As nice as they look, I have no need for a shirt for myself.  How do I "sponsor" a student's shirt, or is that covered by a straight donation?  Apologies if that's already been covered and I missed it.

Also, an ordering link reminder every couple of pages would be handy.

You can sponsor a student by donating $15 at the link.  You don't have to buy a shirt.

My sanity is finally seriously in question.    I can't believe we are doing this.

As to the teepee.....    It's closer to framed out.

We also got the train whistle sealed up, and the program fixed.   It was actually a hardware problem this time and not a software one.

The motion sensor was broken.   It's replaced and works correctly.

Update 4/16

What the hell am I thinking......

Well, there's room, and this will be our last Symposium.  We might as well take everything we can, and the cables are still being installed.

To keep it in one place and not running over the unicorn, we put down 2x4s as tracks so the 1/4" wheel edges don't get destroyed.   We strapped the wheels in place and screwed down blocks behind and in front of them.

We still managed to break a few pieces off, but hot glue and paint fixed the problems.   We will need them again.

Trailer is getting filled up.   We've still got a bunch of projects to load and secure.    The tender will not be going.   The axles will not support the weight and bumpy ride.

so, support it on blocks, or a cradle that is against the frame.

You CANNOT display a locomotive without a tender.
It's like taking Bert without Ernie.
It's like peanut butter sandwich without jelly.

The cradle might work, but space may not allow it anyway.  We have 2 days to play with the idea.

Couple reasons.

#1.....   After 21yrs of bringing it, they tried to dissuade me from bringing taxidermy work last year.   . "It isn't where they want to see the show go." He wanted me to take them to another show somewhere else.

#2 ....  To accomplish this, they raised the entry fees for any project over 5ft in any direction to $20.  It's $3 for everything else; was 2 until a couple years ago.  I probably wouldn't have thought this was directed at me, but the president told me that is what they might do to try to get me not to bring them.. The stands will count as part of the 5 ft.

#3.....Its only 2days of the actual show, and between entry fees(@$500-600 this year), and the roughly $700 it costs me in matting materials, it just isn't worth it.    WY schools are going to feel the crunch in funding next year.   They said to expect 10% cut.   My budget has been the same for 21yrs.   That $1200 would be much better spent on student projects.

#4. Im still pissed about #1.

This is it.  Last one.   Activities Director agrees with me, as does my Principal.   Take a look at the views on the submarine thread.....548k.. 135k for the Unicorn thread, 71k for this one.

More people see my students projects on arfcom than will ever see them at the State Symposium.   That's a fact.

The same reason we put up the $$$. They're our students by proxy, and the world needs more of them. Keep up the good work and we'll keep clicking.

Keep up the good work. I saw we here on Arfcom fund the entry so the student lose no funding for the projects. Plus it is s finger in the eye of the "art" judges. Or show up with only big projects. Leave all of the little ones home.

Arfcom's money and taxpayer money is much better-spent funding projects like this one.

I haven't even talked about the hotel rooms that will be $1000, the gas, the bus driver pay, or the food for the kids.    It's just not worth that much money.  I'm staking 15 students.    The cost of this trip all said and done will be north of 3.5k....for 2.5 days.

We are taking an unusual number of large projects this year.
