How many ARFCOMers did he screw over by admittedly buying them himself using their cards to get past the limit of 2 rule? I know he screwed me over. Simple typo in check out caused me to miss a folder. Had he not bought 10 guns I would have had 1.
View Quote
I am not sure I believe him anyway, how would know there was a limit ? That wasn't posted in the ad and supposedly only came out later. He wouldn't have known to order two at a time.

Even if did, it isn't necessarily a straw purchase. ATF doesn't care about some companies limit of 2, if he did the 4473 on all ten no straw purchase. If he bought them all, but had others fill out the form for him, then yes that is a crime.

Picked mine up today. Will post details in the other thread.

The folder is pristine, looks like it has never been fired. Al screws and pins present, folder locks back like it should No rust, bluing is gorgeous.
The fixed stock is great from the receiver forward. The extension cap is buggered like many others and the stock has a bunch of dings and scratches, but no rust and the bluing is great.

This sucks.

That sucks. Hopefully they ship soon.

FedEx finally delivered mine to the FFL at 1645. Fourteen minutes before he closed. Looks like I'll have mine tomorrow.

LOL.... I'm gonna need to see photo to prove that. Also you admit that you possibly straw purchased them and plan on selling them for a profit and not have an FFL.

That's not true.   BATFE filed charges on a Deputy in my former SO because he wanted to buy a gun he found at a gunshow, realized he had forgot his ID or his CC, had his wife, also a Deputy do the transfer in her name.    Why they did that, I don't know, I can't stand the Feds.  They come in, push their weight around, then leave us the mess to clean up.

Just picked up my folder. Looked to be never fired. Still has cosmoline in and on the action. Has a small brown mark on the side of the receiver but I think it's just dried cosmoline not rust. No scratches or rack tag, also no sling. Couldn't be happier!

Those Bayonet Band Screws are a special Fillisterhead, I believe they are called.   Numrich had some in stock yesterday in blued and parkerized.  Always use hollow grind screwdriver bits on these, not your Stanley toolbox screwdriver with the taper blade that damages the slot.

I didn't even know there were folders until after they were sold out. I would've bought a fixed and a folding had I known about the folders.

Got my folder and fixed today.

The folder looks outstanding, it probably sat in the armory its whole life. The fixed stock has some minor dings in the furniture, nothing major, and there's very minor wear in the bluing from being racked.
I'm impressed, this was a steal for these shotguns. Thanks OP!

It’s more along the lines that these were used by a branch of the US Military. So far we’ve found that these shotguns were also used in a prison riot in the 90s. They may not have war history in a foreign theater, but that doesn’t mean that domestic service by our military is insignificant.

They had a tag on it stating it needed a front pin then  trigger guard and housing is broken. It don't look broken but just jammed. I will have to bring it to a shop
to get checked out. What a bummer.

I removed the back pin and pulled the trigger out. I do see a chipped in the trigger housing. I tried slipping it back in and could not. I have another 870 and plan on removing the trigger housing to see if
it will work. I will do it tomorrow to give me a night away from it. Don't look good on the trigger housing.

About a grand since the FBI guns are rare as hens teeth and very few made it out to the civilian market since the FBI does not surplus their guns. The ones that got out were bought back by S&W when the FBI dropped the 10mm Auto. Hell, a legit extended FBI mag goes for more than these shotguns sold for.

Thanks for the links, but I'm pretty sure those are for the small bracket type extension supports. The bayonet mounts are much thicker and require a longer screw.

So in seriousness how was the recoil and...interaction with the shoulder?
View Quote
I am a big guy and it was not bad at all. If you let your face/cheek just lightly sit on the stock I can see how you could get popped in the face. When I shot it I had it in my shoulder with head upright not on the stock. It is a natural pointing gun, did not hit me in the face and recoil to shoulder was nothing.

Even without the mil provenance these are a rare factory configured gun. They were only offered in this configuration for a short time during the wind down of the Vietnam war, and they were only offered by Remington Defense to law enforcement and military. This is the only release of these model guns to the public in any real number. AFAIK there are no military M870’s and absolutely no Mk1’s in private hands. Occasionally parts have been surplused out but not complete guns. The only mil pump shotguns rarer are the WWII model 37 trench guns and the Remington Model 10 trench guns (I’ve only held one of these and have never seen a real WWII 37 in person)
