After reading a few articles I was like, "WTF".

Then I read one that said he is a SRO.  That explained it.

This isn't random tragedy, it's incompetence and a cover up until after the lawsuit.  The cop cared more about his should be jail term then killing her.  He managed to not be held accountable,  taxpayers righted his wrong and he's still a liability with a badge.  You really  don't get it.

I believe I heard the officer state that one spouse was striking the the other as he approached. Sad situation but never would’ve happened if they weren’t beating on one another on the sidewalk, while also failing to control their dog.

My point is kicking a dog is a horrible plan if that's where it ends.

Kicking it is going to do one of two things, either make it rethink it's plan or massively piss it off and put it into full blown fight mode.  If it's already aggressively defending its territory or 'pack' then the latter is FAR more likely.

An actual dog attack is extremely fast and violent.  I would sooner take on the most violent, whacked out meth head than a pissed off GSD.  Even if you land a solid kick to the head it isn't likely to take the dog out of commission... and that is a VERY big if.

With just your hands it's going to be a bad day.  Anything you throw at it is probably going to get torn to shreds.  A dog also doesn't understand that you're just trying to restrain it, not kill it, so any attempt to control it is going to ramp up its aggression.

I'm fine with shooting a violent dog attacking someone but if people are around you have to find a way to control it and direct it to an area you can safely get the shot off.  Sometimes you just have to take the bite.

I didn't watch the video, but what a massive cluster fuck all around.

So an adult couple is fighting to the point the cops are called.

Retard cop kills her by mistake.

During the video, Hill said to his partner "Oh, my God, no! Oh, fuck, Tim! Shit, Tim! I'm fucking going to prison, Tim!"

And then he's more concerned about how he's going to prison than he is that he just killed someone, which he doesn't even end up being charged?

Okay...

It’s really weird that you took the time to type all that out as if to excuse the shooting.   It doesn’t.   Doesn’t matter if the victim was crazy.   The police have to control their own emotions and actions.

Oh my goodness.  That was the stupidest fucking thing that cop could have done.  There were three people that could have been his backstop...a little boy included.

Something to be said about a good knife and some OC...

I have been attacked by a pit, once, while not on duty.  She got me good.  While on the job, I have been nipped at by pits, been charged by pits, had my boot bitten by a pit and even punctured a hole in it.  I have never once thought of discharging my fucking pistol because of a dog.  I am a dog person, but I hate pitbulls.  Even still, it would have to be a significant mauling, and I would have to be on the losing end, before I would even consider it.

I am not saying this because I'm some Chuck Norris, bad ass fucker.  I'm not.  I am saying this because I know one very simple thing, it is very easy to discharge a bullet.  It is impossible to recall it once it's shot.

This, normal societal niceties are no longer in force when someone is shot, man or woman, no matter where the wound is or may be, FIND IT, and treat it as best you can.  No one cares if you see their tits or cock when they are dying, they just want to not die.

An accident would be one round. That was a double tap. He may have accidentally shot the woman while attempting to shoot the attacking dog, but a double is no accident.

Delivery companies can hold your package at the nearest customer counter instead of attempting delivery if your dog is running free.
Police officers do not have the option to ignore a call because there's a dog in the yard, and the dog reacts to the stress level of everyone present.

Police use apprehension K-9’s on all sorts of people in all sorts of situations including violent aggressive people.

Shoot one and the full weight of the TBL and Dog Lovers United comes down on you like a ton of bricks.

The strategy that I’ve decided to employ for the rest of my life is avoid this armed gang of thugs as much as possible under any and all circumstances. They are not your friend and as this woman found out-are often deadly when encountered.

ETA: that said I’ll be around several this morning in Church.

Once this is widely understood we'll all be a lot better off.

There's a guy walking in the street over there.  We're just gonna go see if he's ok.  Hey buddy you ok?

-Me?  Yeah why?

Well you were walking over there and it just seemed a little suspicious to me.  Where you going?

-Home.

Where you coming from?

-Work.

You been doing any drinking tonight?  I think I might smell a little alcohol and you were kinda staggering back there.

-What are you talking about?  No I haven't been drinking.  I just told you I'm walking home from work.  Why are you even stopping me?  What's going on?

Whoa buddy easy we're just talking.  Do you need an ambulance?

-No I need you to leave me alone.

What's in the backpack?  Mind if I search it for my safety?  Make sure you don't have any guns, knives, swords, bombs?

-Yes I mind.  No you can't search my backpack for no reason.

Easy buddy.  Why don't you just sit on the curb over here.  *gets cuffs and reaches for "suspect's" wrist* You're not under arrest you're just being detained for my safety and yours.

-No man!  Get away from me!

*Tased, tackled, arrested for nothing else but resisting arrest*

Watched it happen on LivePD every week.

Yeah, I didn't realize it was that old but if the dog went after him, hell, it wasn't some cujo dog and a kick or two would have been enough. [and yes, I've been attacked by dogs before including a police dog, that dog ate a can + of Halt, it had a orange head when I was done. PD got their ass chewed by my boss who could quote Mi state dog laws verbatim. [dog was chained to dog house which was not secured to the ground and he wasn't having any issues dragging it after him, after that they mandated kennels if the dog was outside]

When I worked for DTE they issued us Halt. That stuff is only 0.3% active ingredient, it's extremely weak.. More then once I've emptied a entire can of Halt on a dog and then ended up throwing the empty can at the dog.

After I bought some 10% spray I never again had that issue.

1% according to the can [looking at it right now] but it ate the entire can in it's mouth and face.

Apparently they have upgraded. This is what they handed out when I worked there. It was basically a can of tabasco.
