Just a thought...the cop who pulled the trigger must have been black. Otherwise the media would be screaming WHITE COP SHOOTS UNARMED BLACK MAN !!!

What the fuck. Multiple cops and not one of them said, hey guys, we can probably stand down a bit.

I'm usually all for waiting for all the facts, but this is just bad. The sad part is, people will say "See, ALL cops are racist and trigger happy."

I was able to come up with 16 old arfcom threads about plane crashes. Some before you registered. None were anywhere close to what you claimed.

If you can only find 16 threads about plane crashes in the last 10+ years I seriously question your search parameters.  There's probably been more than that in the last two years alone.

If I didn't have to get up for work in 4 hours I'd help you look, although your last quip suggests your mind is already made up about what you want to find or not.

Talk about plenty of suicidal people feel the need to take others with them. Or they realize that they can't do it and try toget someone else to do it for them.
I'm not saying that's what happened here, just the reason a call about a suicidal person with a gun is a going to have a response with multiple officers with guns drawn and shields.

Relax princess no one is calling you out. I searched and checked 16 threads. I didn't continue looking and reading old threads.
As for my "last quip" all it suggest is none of the 16 were close to being the thread you claimed you read. Nothing more nothing less.
But since you feel I suggested otherwise a simple link to the thread you mentioned would be awesome.

Being it seemed to be such a controversial thread I'm sure someone else would remember it and help you out.

Ephesians 6:12

A lot of you aren't ready or receptive to this message, but here goes:

What do you think causes the rulers and agents of our government to act in this way?

Our government has legalized murdering children and bondage (income tax). Who do you think its agents are really working for?

Here's a hint: not you and not God and his Son.

When you watch videos like this and wonder how police can make such poor decisions, it's because they're not making the decisions at all. There is a darker force pulling the strings.

This is the work of Satan, and we are in the last days.

This is the kind of thing that convinces blacks that the police are out to get them. This will not be helpful.

It's not the shooting that is the problem.

It's damn near every other officer closing ranks and making endless excuses and desperate nitpicky justifications that is the problem.  THAT is what people see, that is what shapes their impression of all of this.

There was a really illuminating thread here a year or so back when an aircraft crashed and the pilot and passengers were killed.  There are plenty of pilots on the board here, and more than a few of them started dissecting the incident to figure out what happened.  The conclusion was pretty unanimously pilot error with resulting total loss of aircraft.

If memory serves, the pilot was retired LEO and... some predictable members here got very agitated that anyone would have the nerve to start speaking ill of the dead and criticizing them in such a manner, especially so soon.

One of the pilots pointed out, rather bluntly, that things don't work that way with pilots.  They analyze accidents and assign fault very objectively and dispassionately because it's how they have learned how to not get killed and take others with them when giant high-speed flying machines are involved.  They'll absolutely criticize a dead pilot - or even a live one - who made a preventable error, they'll do it without hesitation, and they'll do it publicly.  The suggestion was made that perhaps the knee-jerk reaction to avoid publicly admitting fault among colleagues was somewhat unique to law enforcement.

The original complainants didn't come back to the thread.

It was quite eye-opening.

was the information about the plane crash a video of it flying straight and level, and then cut to a smoking hole in the ground?

The whole point is It is instinctive to distrust a person whose first reaction is to deflect blame to establish deniability..

Doesn't matter what your 9 to 5 is.

As a cop for 10yrs I've worked (and responded to calls) with people who never had any business being a cop. Not because they were evil, racists, or bad people. It was because they were idiots and had no clue how to handle any situation. Some agencies are dying for a fresh body and no criminal history to fill their positions. It's rarer in some agencies but I've almost been shot three times while on calls and two of the bullets came from the weapon of the guy/girl responding with me.

And that's why you don't believe the information dispatch gives you.  Because 99/100 times if the caller says a man has a gun, he doesn't.

A lot of people say they think they saw a gun just to get cops there faster. But you can't prove they lied, so there's nothing you can do about it.

No, it doesn't.  In reality, it doesn't paint anything.  There is a segment of video missing that could prove a different scenario.  Most sane folks realize this and analyze with a handicap, leaving open the possibility of unseen justifiable actions.  It's those that default to the blue line and reject any possibility of misconduct, regardless of video evidence, that draw the ire of everyday law abiding citizens. ---oh, and the scumbags, but they hate you regardless of the facts.

We just can't seem to catch a break.

Fuck.  I'm getting tired.

What does that mean?
Means every day I'm out here trying to be the good guy, trying to show people that the poor decisions or actions of a few dont reflect all of us, trying to bring us back into positive light... it's hard... and gets harder every day.

These incidents paint with a broad brush

Looks like the two suspects were extremely agitated and making furtive movements and not following commands/orders. The one suspect with the weapon should've dropped the weapon.

These tactical situations have many variables and can evolve from one extreme situation to another and due to the extreme tension can end rather badly for the suspects

Even if the shooting was entirely accidental, it still seems absurd to even be pointing your rifles at a guy on his back, hands up, complying, and calmly explaining the situation.

What, did they think it was the old "caretaker-disabled ruse"?

This and why be so rough with him after shooting him by accident.
In a lot of areas they need to raise the bar in hiring.

Seems to me but ole beelzebub needs to hit the range to work on his aim.

I want to kill.......everyone. Satan is good. Satan is our pal.

WELL, THAT'S US. IT'S NOT THEM, THAT'S US. WE'RE the ones who are vaulting over the fences, and peeking in through people's windows. We're the ones who are THROWING GARBAGE IN THE STREET, AND LIGHTING FIRES. WE'RE THE ONES WHO ARE ACTING SUSPICIOUS AND PARANOID, ART. WE'RE THE LUNATICS. US. IT'S NOT THEM. It's us.

Behavior therapist in a group home... that is not an easy job.

Its clearly not a gun in his hand.  The caretaker is able to explain what is going on and is fully compliant in the video.

I can't imagine what happens next unless knives and shotguns fell from the heavens and landed in their hands that would lead to a justifiable shooting.

Seriously, what the fuck.  What else could the caretaker do to comply better with the officers?

Edit:
This is very upsetting to me.  Working that job, trying to do the right things, trying to protect his client who is clearly at high risk of making an agitated move that could lead to him getting injured.  I can't imagine being a police officer and having to do your job under threat of being ambushed or attacked.  The stress and decisions that have to be made is impossible for me to understand but man... idk how someone wound up shooting this man.

I hope the guy gets a very substantial sum of money so he can continue his line of work and the officer ends up in the clink unless there some major revelation yet to be revealed. The dept. would be very wise not to drag their feet either, that's the kind of reaction that leads to more riots.

Local cop here shot his squad car twice through the roof trying to get his rifle out.

Now THAT sounds like a good shoot - vehicle wouldn't surrender the weapon and a struggle ensued...

In the incident being discussed in this thread, sounds like the gentleman who got shot will recover, thankfully.

no, I caught his point.

but I think his premise is wrong. cops do not automatically assume that other cops acted inappropriately without some evidence to

show it.

most cops I know, here and in RL, are more then happy to call misconduct misconduct.  but

in his example of a plane crash, I imagine that they had some actual information about the crash before they said the pilot F'd up.

Let me offer my perspective.  After a formation flight every group that I've ever flown with conducts a debrief of how the flight went.  We go into the debrief not assuming but absolutely knowing that each and every one of us screwed up at some point during the flight. We know this because we're human and we are imperfect.  We accept that there has never been nor will there ever be a perfect flight.

We check our egos at the door, sit down at the table and then, one by one, offer objective, critical self-evaluations of our performance during the flight as well as our assessment of the team's performance.  We look at everything from the quality of the pre-flight brief through shutdown.  We rely on each other to hold each other accountable.  I may not have noticed something I did wrong but its likely that the guy on my wing or on my six did and I expect to be called out on it.  This is how we get better at what we do, how we stay safe and most importantly protect people on the ground.  This is not unique to the guys I fly with, it is part of the culture, it is ingrained from the moment you start formation training.

Here's an example of how the Blue Angels do it:
