The damn state 'govs are to damn odd to trust either.   Here we had Huckabee, a republican, who claimed to have been very progun. Never did a thing for us.  Beebe, a democrat, gets elected, and is signing the hell out of good gun bills.

Here's the way I see it. This country is headed down the tubes in a big hurry. I really believe that Texas would have a chance as a Republic again. Would we need help?Maybe, maybe not,  but we'll never know until we try. I say we do this. If it turns out we fall flat on our face, all get killed, starve, or die of thirst, who gives a shit. At least it will be interesting, and we wouldn't have to watch the country we used to be a part of go into complete ruin at the hands of the fucktards who are in charge now. You know that live free or die thing? It's getting close to that point. Actually, by some standards it's way past that point.

We have plenty of oil, natural gas as well as wheat, beef, etc.  We also have a couple of air bases.  If Kansas were to join in, there would be even more military infrastructure (Ft. Riley).

Get Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and Arkansas to join and you're completely and easily viable.

Besides, we've got good bourbon in Kentucky, not to mention assloads of coal.

Maybe we could put all the coal powered plants right along the eastern border, with small smoke stacks.  Those prevailing winds would be a bitch for DC with all the particulate matter...

Because secession is treason.

Splitting up the US will lead to nothing but more blood shed across the nation, weaken our stance internationally, damage everyone economically,  damage  the value of the dollar, and a host of other consequences.

So your quest for 'freedom and liberty' is going to adversely effect mine and millions of other American's 'freedom and liberty'.

Your energies would be better spent elsewhere.

Who cares if we are a net importer or exporter of electricity?  We have the power grid, and without government regulation, we could throw up some nuke plants PDQ.  I'm pretty sure they're already working on a couple near Houston.  Now we just have to find some fuel rods, or at least get the material and make our own rods(we already make nuclear weapons material in Amarillo, don't we?).  Plus all the oil (and refining capacity) and natural gas.

My biggest concern would be water.

No, it's perfectly accurate.

It's none of the other States' business if Texas leaves or stays.  This isn't a death pact and the "perpetual union" bullshit was invented out of thin air by men who wanted to give the Federal government a life of it's own.

Hmm, are you aware of the disproportionate amount of US military troops Texas, Oklahoma, and a few other states field?  How many of those active duty troops do you honestly think will take up arms against their families when they know that the military they are currently serving in, is taking orders from an asshat administration that is expressly NOT following the Constitution?

How exactly do you think this will all go down Yankee?  It isn't a north v south dispute, but it will certainly be a states right's thing once again.  The problem for the Federal side this time around is that most of the industrial infrastructure is firmly in the conservative states this time around, and that, inconveniently enough, is where most of the troops are from.
