I'm curious what they are doing that makes dentists not be able to A dentist almost certainly has a DEA Schedule II-V license. So they "can" write you a scrip for an opioid. They are choosing not to do so because of the increased hassle associated with prescribing CII drugs, which is now virtually all opioids except for some combination meds that have a relatively low level of codeine along with an NSAID. |

I'm not advocating that docs break the law here, given how easy it is to get busted - but on the patient side... with alllll the stupid bullshit going on, there is absolutely zero reason to give a shit about obeying the law.
Any of y'all actually think the cocksuckers busy going after regular Americans for being "domestic terrorists" are doing it while suffering without pain meds after a tooth extraction? Fuck no. Of course not. Rules are for peasants. |

Pretty soon the list of shit not scheduled will be shorter than the list of shit that is scheduled. "Sorry sir, we're going to need your Dr to provide another prescription before we can sell you this Preparation H. You see, one time some kid somewhere on earth smeared some prep H into a pipe and smoked it then wrecked his car later. Despite having a BAC of .35, it's better to be safe than sorry, and we've determined that asshole grease is now a potential drug of abuse." |

Quoted: wife had spinal fusion recently. Doc prescribed her 5mg Oxycodones. That did nothing; she has a VERY high tolerance for pain meds. Doc told her to go to 10mg, and he called her in a 10mg prescription since she was going to run out twice as fast. Pharmacy says they cannot fill it until Day 6 after teh operation because "she already has some." No shit, you buttplugs, but she's going to run completely OUT of her first prescription on Day FOUR because the Doc retroactively DOUBLED her dosage. Meaning she'll have NO pain meds for about 36 hours until you buttfuckers fill it. View Quote Pharmacists can be a real PITA about this stuff. Friends daughter who was 11, had to have a tooth that had grown horizontal cut out of her gums. Every damn one of them refused to fill the Rx written by the dentist. The POS dentist just said sorry nothing I can do and I know damn well the dentist knew about the pharmacists wouldn't fill the rx. All in involved left an 11 year old child to spend the night in tears and told her tylenol and advil. Basically kill your liver and burn a hole in you stomach because junkies. |

They gave me Dialudid when I had mu kidney stones and all I could think was how the fuck do people get addicted to this shit? It made me feel like total ass and didn't even really numb the pain (nothing really can with kidney stones).

My Dad is at my house right now with a spinal compression fracture.
“We can set you up with a Pain Management Specialist in two weeks. For right now we don’t prescribe opiates so try Tylenol.” Fuck those assholes. |

This brings back some fun memories. Had to have all but two of my baby teeth ripped out of my skull (impacted) and all I got was milkshakes and children’s Tylenol.

Next time ask what the options before you get the work done. If they don't meet your needs then don't do it. Find someone who can do what you want them to do for the money you pay them.

it's very variable, too
I get told to take Advil after a wisdom tooth removal, but my friend went at a nearby dentist and they gave him a script for some pretty hardcore opioids after a filling. He didn't even want them or ask for them. |

Quoted: What in the the titty fucking sprinkles is wrong with the cock fags at the DEA? The war on opiates is getting out of control. I had four wisdom teeth removed, three turned into dry sockets. The pain was so bad the weak as fuck Percocet only worked when I chased it with a few beers. I was at the dentist immediately the following morning.

Had the rug pulled out from under me fall of 2017 by the VA. No more pain meds for my wrecked knee. Pain Management was pointless and those treetments no longer work.
My Dentist was pretty cool and would prescribe appropriate meds when i broke a few teeth and needed referred to another place that did Root Canal Preceedures (Both are family friends). At some point back in 2018 she stopped proscribing opiates, regardless how bad off you were. Have not been able to get the story from her on what happened. Same with with local oral surgeon with exception for extreme casese. He's another family friend (My mom retired from his practice where she was a Oral Surgical Assistant for many years), so i was not treeted like a druggie when I asked for options for pain management when I had to get broken teeth dug out, Feds. Scared Docs. Fucking Asshole FUCKS who abused pain meds and ruined it for everboy else and now we ALL have to suffer because of THEM. And there is a special hell somewhere for the pain management peeps over at the VA. THey have blood on their hands. |

I feel there’s more to this story. They wouldn’t deny a fill for Tramadol for no reason.
Now there can be limitations on the fill: Greater than 7 day supply Other opiates filled recently Dea number missing on the Rx Insurance not wanting to pay for the amount of opiates Bc you don’t normally take them, but you have the option of paying out of pocket for that. But given you take Xanax, which is a common drug combo with a pain pill which both happen to be abused often, it can also throw a red flag. So did they deny filling tramadol just Bc they guy didn’t feel like filling it? Or is it one of the above situations? |

I had to get a tooth pulled that apparently had 4 roots. Dentist was like WTF! and I think ended up splitting the tooth and taking it out that way. Left a hell of a hole and the nurse/assistance said the DEA had cracked down on everything. Just take some extra strength Tylenol if I had any pain. I think Tylenol 3 is all they gave Granny when she fell in the bathroom and hurt her butt/back and she was 90 something then.

She is going look for her Merck Manual lol...... She’ll get why I asked and how it pertains to drug seeking behavior. Just got this copypasta from her. 5/15/19 Cornelius A. Thiels, D.O., from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and colleagues conducted an observational study of administrative claims data for opioid-naive patients undergoing elective surgery. The risk for persistent opioid use after discharge was examined for patients treated with tramadol alone versus other short-acting opioids. Overall, 357,884 of the 444,764 patients who met the inclusion criteria filled a discharge prescription for one or more opioids associated with one of 20 included operations. The most commonly prescribed postoperative opioids were hydrocodone (53.0 percent of those filling a single opioid), short-acting oxycodone (37.5 percent), and tramadol (4 percent). The researchers found that the unadjusted risk for prolonged opioid use after surgery was 7.1, 1.0, and 0.5 percent, respectively, using three definitions of prolonged opioid use: additional opioid use, persistent opioid use, and the CONsortium to Study Opioid Risks and Trends (CONSORT) definition. Relative to individuals receiving other short-acting opioids, receipt of tramadol alone correlated with a 6 percent (adjusted risk ratio [aRR], 1.06; 95 percent confidence interval [CI], 1.00 to 1.13; P = 0.049), 47 percent (aRR, 1.47; 95 percent CI, 1.25 to 1.69; P < 0.001), and 41 percent (aRR, 1.41; 95 percent CI, 1.08 to 1.75; P = 0.013) increase in the risk for additional opioid use, persistent opioid use, and a CONSORT chronic opioid use episode, respectively. "[These] data will force us to reevaluate our postsurgical prescribing guidelines," Thiels said in a statement. "And while tramadol may still be an acceptable option for some patients, our data [suggest] we should be as cautious with tramadol as we are with other short-acting opioids." |
