...Indeed. I'm partial to Fulton Armory's attempt at A1 specs made from A2 materials... because they're actually available for reasonable cost. but yeah, CS all day View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

There is definitely something great (besides the weight
) about a Green Label HBAR. Excellent thread, OP. |

I tore my fixed stock 20" down and sold the upper. Been waiting on a nice deal on a 16" middy to throw back on that lower. Great thread, MiamiJBT!

Fixed stocks are definitely serviceable. I have a surplus A1 on my Mk 12 and an M16A1 cone dressed up in Brownells' reproduction retro furniture.

During the AWB decade, okay. But weather changes too much and being able to change LOP and maintaining eye relief as you add or remove layers is just too easy. Transitioning my boys to centerfire and deer calibers with guns that can fit us all is too nice.
Not saying no, and I may do it again, but for now, I like the ability to adjust my stock. |

Hmmmm Lone Star Ordnance A2 Handguards. View Quote I put that rifle together 25 years ago out of parts sourced from ads in the back of Shotgun News. My first AR. Upper & lower are PWA, barrel is OLY. All the rest is a freaking blur. Too many years & beers, I guess. |

I'm putting my A2 stock on a new build. Took it off a plain jane DPMS when i modified it. Pinch myself on that adjustable all the time..

Most of us added lead to those to make them heavier. Do you have the special gas tube for that setup? Most of them wouldn't work with a regular one unless you bent it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

An A2 is on my list.
And it will be a Colt. Someday, it will be mine. I don’t want a mint one. I want it to have a few miles on it. |

I just picked up a Windham Weaponry 20inch Gov't model, felt weird to pick it up after handling 16 inch carbines with Tele stocks.

I think I have four of them and as I type this the components to build two more are inbound.
I love all things AR I’m gonna have to build me a 20” next. |

ITT, we discuss the awesomeness of the fixed stock for the AR-15. https://i.imgur.com/xQkNfMN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9KN22ot.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7CZVnVK.jpg There is just something better about the fixed stock on a AR. It reminds me of simpler times. Of the era of ABC and your magazines options were GI Aluminium or Thermolds. Optics attached to carry handle and three point slings were considered advanced. Music was still Metal and Grunge was still relegated to Seattle. The Russians were dazed and confused from the collapse of the USSR and AK & FAL kits were cheaper than an outing to the movies these days. The internet was DSL or AOL. Porn was pictures and Social Media didn't exist yet. Cars still had rollup windows and ashtrays. Playboy still didn't undies in their magazines and Penthouse/Hustler was hardcore. We still had optimism in our Government and economy. Clinton was actually being impeached. Ahhh simpler times...... View Quote |
