Everything is ruined, all appliances , beds everything. Also your dry wall is soaked there's a half inch of mud in your floors. This maybe the Best of several ways it could go. |

Prayers out for our pals in the great state of Florida. I got lucky the year I was in the Keys. No hurricanes just a few tropical storms.
Which BTW for a Colorado native those were reasonably impressive. |

Quoted: Crazy. Lake Okeechobee is going up about 1/2" per day right now. I'm interested to see what tomorrow's Lake Level Report will be. My property inland is on the waterway, and several large boats were spotted heading east across Lake O. For anyone considering bugging out from the west coast I'd recommend considering south and east versus running north. While 75 is starting to get busy route 80 and 27 across and south were almost empty today and will probably stay that way. There's been recent work on both roads to build deep ditches, and I feel pretty good about them being safe in heavy rains. Hotels in Fort Lauderdale are almost empty. The Below Deck crew was at Bo's Beach Day Bar yesterday, and we ran up the New River and bar hopped all afternoon yesterday and had the places to ourselves. By this weekend it's supposed to be 80's/90's and sunny again, and there are worse places to ride out this mess if you need to. View Quote This is correct, but the Miami area is starting to fill up. Some first responders are being sent down there rather than waiting in Georgia. |

Went to a wedding Sat. night at Clearwater Beach at the SandPearl. New Mr. and Mrs. were kicked out today (closing hotel) and now making their way to Winter Haven to finish out their honeymoon at the inlaws house.

Quoted: I have never experienced a hurricane. View Quote I went through four (or maybe five, I don't remember) in my 30 years in Lakeland. Lost power three times, twice for multiple days. Only lost water once, back in 04 during Charley. Water came back on in two days, power took almost a week. Never had any major damage to our house but others in our subdivision had century-old oaks uprooted that took their whole yard with them. |

Quoted: I have never experienced a hurricane. View Quote Well, the anticipation sucks. Then the event itself is all "this isn't so bad.." then a little later it's "this is pretty bad, probably gonna die." Then it's "nah, that wasn't so bad." Then after the third day of no AC and lots of clean up, it's "I hate this crap." Then day 10 with no power or AC comes, and you say "why couldn't I have died, this humidity is worse than death!" Then you forget that whole experience and you do it again and again, all while thinking how awesome your governor is. Then the next storm comes and you start thinking that maybe the mountains would be better than this, but you're pretty stubborn, so you stay. At least that's my experience. |

Quoted: Never mind, read the sign. Monarch Hill Renewable Energy Park, colloquially known as Mount Trashmore, is a 225-foot high landfill site located in an unincorporated area of northern Broward County, Florida, bordered by the cities of Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, and Deerfield Beach, alongside the east side of Florida's Turnpike between mile markers 69 and 70. It is owned by Waste Management, Inc. |

As a Floridian, I’ve seen my share. The funniest moment I can recall, barely, was during Andrew. I was working in Miami and living in Broward. I was weeks away from having my back surgery, so I was stoned (legal scripts) most of the time. Anyway, I had slept through all but the worst of the wind. When I woke up, I walked to the living room to check for hurricane updates. The neighbors across the street began banging on the front door and the wind had really picked up. After getting in the front door, one of the neighbors stated “Oh no, we forgot grandma!” He ran back out into the storm. I was standing there in my pharmaceutical fog thinking what kind of scumbag runs out of the house and leaves grandma behind? He came back in the house carrying an urn……I went back to bed. |

Quoted: I don't find Floridians agree on a lot, but, they are all skeptical on Hurricane path predictions. View Quote That's because we have been through enough of them that we have seen them steer away at the last minute and veer right towards us at the last minute. Having had two back to back storms in 2004 come through, where we have never had a land fall in 100+ years and destroy my house...yeah I take them with a grain of salt. I'll go to cat 3, after that I'm out. |

CSB after a hurricane story.
We were out of power for about 10 days. Good friend lives about 6 blocks away. I go over to see him. He’s laughing when I pull up. I also notice one of his neighbors from a block over walking down the street. Hey..what’s so funny ? Fucking scumbag thieves. Lol,, What happened ? Neighbors had their generator stolen..while it was running ! What ? Bill from a block over says he woke up about 3am. The room was warm and the generator did not sound right. Temporary Lights did not work. Grabbed a flashlight and went outside. Fucking thieves stole a lawn mower. Started it up next to the generator. Shut off the portable generator. Ran off with the generator. Left the stolen lawn mower running. Guy never noticed the change in noise until the room got warm and he woke up ! Fuckers..Lol.. |

Family on Ft Myers Beach are hanging tight for now. They have the boats as secured as possible and the outside stripped of anything that can move by the wind. They’re going to decide on boarding up the windows tomorrow.
Sounds like Lee County is going to make the call on evacuations tomorrow morning. |

I hope it doesn't shift south suddenly, I would like some time to gtfo.
