Well it's national guard so anything is possible. I can tell you that when I was on active duty, they would bring everyone who was ETS'ing up to battalion HQ to meet with the LTC & do an outprocessing interview. As well as putting suggestions for changes to improve morale in writing (either signed or unsigned), you were able to say whatever you wanted about whoever you wanted & it was confidential - so if you worked for a dickhead that was your chance to get it off your chest. Never was in the military. Have a question. Are there actually times where someone would hand in a letter like that? I did work in a place that was paramilitary, and I could see it happening there, heck I am surprised I didn't in the end, but I wanted the option to come back if needed. Quoted: My last CO was the problem with the command. I didn't bother to tell her. I think she figured it out after receiving a letter of reprimand. She went her last 10 or so years as an O-4 despite being one of the first women to earn a command at sea pin. She was also the spitting image of John Denver. View Quote |

I've seen things you wouldn't believe. 113s melted to the ground while the external fire extinguisher handle hadn't been pulled. An M1 tank barrel after it had been traversed into the pine trees at 40 mph. A Bradley ramming the back of another Bradley so hard it separated the frame welds. ETA: Oh, and the aftermath of someone driving an MTV with a Remote Weapons Station into the famous 11 ft 8 bridge. How could I forget that. View Quote |

Quoted: Nah, no females on combatants in my time ~1990. She was the CO of Oceanographic Unit 3, which was deployed on the USNS Hess. There were ~20-25 military in the unit. At the time, I think there may have been a female CO on a tender or two. She did something extremely stupid, and got a letter of reprimand for ruining an E6's career. Unfortunately for her, someone in her chain of command was the former CO of a submarine on which the E6 had served. Whoops. Don't get me wrong. It was a blast serving on that ship. It was some of the easiest time I served. https://preview.redd.it/hfm4noqgoh621.jpg?auto=webp&s=56e8093b5e279da7eebdb39dacecc18559bb0bd8 View Quote |

Back in the 80's my buddy got a USMC tattoo before going to boot camp. I tried to talk him into waiting until he got out. He quickly became the drill sergeants favorite boot. They smoked him long and hard every chance they got. He made it through, and by all accounts had a good career, but damn he started out rough. View Quote |

Had a kid in the late 80's show up to boot camp with a Trident on his chest.... It wasn't pretty.
