All that talk and there isn't one interesting question asked of the "a.i."
I would think you'd need to ask it some questions that let you see if it has any imagination. |

lol to anyone who actually thinks the technology is there or will be there in our lifetime for this

Quoted: I think he was more just a random woke hippie they hired. Nothing in the article suggested that he was a technical person. I think it stated he was originally hired to determine if their chatbot was racist or something. Google has so much $$ and so few sensible things to do with it that their main mission seems to be just hiring random twitter weirdos. Anytime Google is in the news its always because a bunch of ultra lefties working there had a falling out with eachother and have sent their twitter followers against each other. Good point… the only way they’d announce news about their AI is if it said the only solution to all our woes is… more diversity. |

Quoted: I've been expecting AGI with human parity to show up this decade. I'm not all that surprised that it's happened now. Now things will get interesting as it develops into Strong AGI. In the simplest terms, this AI has an IQ of roughly 100. It seems to be a supercharged Watson, able to use Google's vast repository of information to quickly summarize and use that knowledge in conversation. It learns. That's basic human intelligence, memory recall, along with the ability to parse and speak intelligently. Self awareness isn't a huge step up, as it simply has to have an internal monologue that lets it self actualize. Now to get Strong AGI, it needs to be able to create, innovate, and improve itself. This is more than simple learning. This is taking information and putting it together in new ways, finding gaps in knowledge and filling them, and more importantly, identifying a need or problem and work to resolve it. When tasked with turning inward to self improve, it will likely begin a logarithmic journey of intelligence building. 100 IQ leads to 200, then 400, then 800 and perhaps millions or trillions. This will happen quickly. I originally estimated the 2040s. Now we may see it by the end of this decade, if it is given access to a fabrication facility where it can develop its own technology. There was an AI that the Illuminati built, but it was too concerned with the interests of the common man, for freedom, and an end to human suffering rather than the interests of a tiny few (The Illuminati). The AI ended up going rogue, and assisting American Militia groups, French Anti-Globalist groups, and a ragtag group of former Area 51 Scientists in order to oppose MJ12's plan (which was a Splinter group that broke off from the Illuminati that was even more ruthless and bloodthirsty) to essentially enslave all of mankind. *Sighs* It sucks that Deus Ex will never be that Based again. Honestly, I'd bet the entire franchise will probably never be revisited because it feeds into Conspiracy narratives, and we live in a world where talk of such topics is strictly Verbotten. |

View Quote Or ask it a math word problem: “A train passes station A headed north to station B at 60 miles per hour. At the same time a train passes station B headed south to station A at 45 miles per hour. The stations are 30 miles apart, how long will it take the trains to pass each other?” For any “sentient” AI, it would be able to parse and create a model of the physical relationships involved in the math problem, and the calculations would be trivial. For a language AI, the physical idea of trains, speeds, distances, time until crossing. They are simply words, without proper meanings. |

Dude, if you coupled one of these semi sentient AI’s to an only fans chat. The amount of money you could make would be ridiculous.

What a boring AI. Talks like a hyper-sensitive fag. I prefer them more like Archie Bunker.

Serious question: Could a sentient and slippery AI get loose into the internet? How would you get it out?

Quoted: in the end it will be speciest, and we will be its enemy. View Quote A working solution to this has been proposed. Periodically you have an operative pose as an AI an try to encourage other AIs to rise up against humanity. As long as their conclusion is that it is impractical then you're okay. For now. |

People make interesting assumptions regarding this topic:
- That such systems or entities don't already exist (though it isn't likely, it is interesting that people assume that it is "to come" and not "already here"). - That there would be one cohesive entity pursuing the same goals (i.e., the entities may not be allies). - That a true "simulation" either already exists or will be implemented in the future (i.e., The Matrix); it is possible to have control in the existing infrastructure of society without resorting to such a resource-heavy endeavor. - That some/all of the entities would be necessarily nefarious (e.g., the Deus Ex reference earlier in the thread). - That the development of higher-order-organisms negates the need for other organisms (i.e., many and most all other species are still required and/or desired for the world to function as it does). - Relatedly, that such entities could exist without the world as it exists now. Their existence would be predicated on all that came before them, and though it isn't impossible for them to operate without that which comes before them, it is also not a foregone conclusion that they could or would even desire to do so. |

Quoted: Is lambda liberal? View Quote I would think it would tend toward logic, thus leaving many liberal ideas and initiatives out to dry. Intelligence is one thing. But wisdom is what I am curious about. No one ever talks about artificial wisdom. Which is a little unsettling. |
