So as I read through the thread I am seeing this change as a wholesale change for the 2nd Group that now owns Brownells and AR15.com, using that leverage to affect positive change. AR15.com already has 10s of thousands of members and an internet presence while Brownells has marketing figured out. The Brownells leader stepped away from the corruption in the NRA and wants to go their own way. So that person can lead the good fight. By purchasing AR15.com the 2nd group actually purchased access to us as a community, the largest pro 2nd community on the net. Boom instant viable replacement for the NRA. They then have a Business Leader and former NRA leader to step up and lead the 2nd community out of the mess we are in. The new lobbying and business venture can raise their hand as a viable option to the NRA because AR15.com becomes the base population and it has more people than any other like group because they started with us. I see they keep ignoring Industry Partner posts. I imagine the whole industry section going away. They aren't going to fund Brownells, their competitor, nor will Brownells see their potential profits go to other companies View Quote |

So is this the official reason Brownell left the NRA board? View Quote I get the feeling the Brownells are on the side of the modern sporting rifle being the AR platform, being the big thing for hunting, recreational shooting, varmint control, and sport shooting now and in 5, 10, 50 years. Not grandpa's 30-06 from Sears & Roebuck. I think, and I say this being clueless to anything behind the scenes, that He left the NRA because of the thought that the current and future trend of firearms is not being protected by the NRA. If this goes down remotely good, I think this can be a very positive thing. Hopefully 2nd Adventure Group ties into a PAC and a Nonprofit to start pushing support for pro gun politicians and policy, and pushing to loosen current restrictions. I for one would volunteer hours of my time, and empty my wallet for a PAC and Nonprofit pushing to improve ownership, education, training, for young and old, men and women of all shapes and colors. But there is a fine line before it falls to failure. |

Hopefully this goes differently from the last zillion forum buyouts.

Quoted: Yes. So it's a short list right now of who we answer to. I imagine there will be a team created and assigned to the group to help with overall decisions and making sure of its direction. As of now Brownells sites on one branch of the tree and ARFCOM sits alone on another. View Quote |

As far as I'm concerned, this transition to corporate ownership can only end for this site in exactly one way: https://media.giphy.com/media/9mgfUcJmFgx7W/giphy.gif Seriously this is one FUCKED UP DECISION and I do not support it. I was about to renew my paid membership but I'm seriously rethinking that now. View Quote |

So, who's gonna do the a "(Hitler) NRA finds out that Brownells acquired/partnered with ARFcom" video?
If I was the NRA, I would be shitting bricks at the potential Army that could be mustered against me. |

Yeah, that will never fly in G.D. Maybe instead of Like button, we could have a "Hate" button. And possibly "Too fat" and "too skinny" buttons. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Hoping for the best, can’t say I’m optimistic. At least my friends the Avilas received some long overdue compensation for their great work and service to the community.

I wonder if a stronger voice for for 2A includes tranny threads, use of the "rich and vibrant" label, Looty memes, beheading threads and the other crazy stuff that makes GD what it is. Shit. If an anti-gunner spent two weeks cherry picking some of the stuff said here they would have a field day with gotcha quote blog headlines. If arfcom is to be the hub of a pro 2a whateveryoucallit thats probably a good thing. If does become that it won't look anything like what it is now. Maybe thats a positive. Guess we will see. Wow.... Mixed thoughts. I’ve seen the demise of other forums start this way but...if anyone can break the mold...ARFCOM and Brownells can. The possibility of becoming a stronger voice for 1A/2A is exhilarating and possible as long as PC culture and lawyers stay out of the mix. Regardless, I’m in for the ride. I’m appreciative for what the forum is now, thankful for the leadership, and hopeful for even brighter days. Shit. Does this mean membership prices will rise, or that we'll have to start seeing sponsored Brownells ads too?
Does it mean the Brownells folks support EBR ownership more? |

Nope, just the people who continually make excuses for why they support anti-second amendment politicians.

There are different reasons that companies are acquired. Passive Investment, Active Investment, Flipping, Under Valued, opening a new marketing chain, acquiring capabilities that support a corporate overall strategy etc
Sometimes the owners just want to cash out. Usually P&L, Balance Sheet, Market Share, Demographic Placeholder etc. can make the reason more clear. Having acquired many companies the notification to customers, employees, partners and vendors goes the same way in my experience. There is uncertainty and speculation. At the beginning for the new owner there is also little factual information as to how well things will work out in achieving the goals they purchased the company for. As a customer all I can do is see what happens. I can't imagine that the new owners are not concerned about losing customers because of this acquisition. I do not envy Goatboy's job of trying to answer questions that at this point no one has the answers to. As long as I can come here and learn things from a incredible human database of knowledge, laugh at you knuckleheads when I need it most, to have my faith in humanity restored as I see the outpouring of support and empathy when members need a hand up.... I am good. |
