My 2021 Bronco averages about 16.6mpg.  No issues and no complaints.

I think so.  It's got a "Big Bend" sticker on the side.  I haven't checked under the hood to see what its got.

You do understand that marketing’s job is to sell vehicles, right?

Tying that wannabe Bronco to all of the hype of the full size absolutely makes sense.

The sport model is the hood rat version. Just like polo sport, hilfiger sport, anything sport.

It’s for the poors.

You all do remember how much the 1st gen 3.5EB engines were giant turds right?

Seems like FCA and GM actually have their shit together. Only issue I can recall from them two are bad lifters, which get replaces on the GM and the 8 speed, that just needs new fluid.

I’m sure yours would snap too if you weren’t running p-rated 31s.

The last land cruiser that could back up the “master race” business was the 80 series. Every generation since has moved closer into the large luxury SUV (Tahoe/suburban) category.

All the cool prototypes over the years and the finished product....
Other than some cool off road modes for those who actually would use them...
I would have to say the hype did not live up to the product delivered as is.
I'm glad its out, but I was hoping for a little more true to form mixed with with today's tech. But.....that may not have been Ford's vision to begin with.

Nice to see them. Glad people are happy, just not for me.

22 Badlands with Sasquatch, high package, and 2.7. Soft top is fantastic functionally speaking, the hard top does look better though.

Fucking lol. Okay. A couple reports apparently means they all have issues.

You see the complaints because people who are happy don’t usually post the positive experiences. The amount of issues are tiny in comparison to the amount of happy buyers. NHTSA is investigating because it was pushed by small amount of engine failures. No other reason

I wanted a Bronco bad, but their wokeness put me to sleep, so a built out 4Runner or GX460 will be my next vehicle, which sucks because I really wanted a removable top, but Ford and Jeep are both woke.

I mean, you’re not wrong.

There were some uggo color schemes and decals back in the day. Ferd’s been trying hard to harness nostalgia with the Broncos and by and large, doing a pretty good job of it IMHO.

Some of it’s awesome, this is middle of the road, and I’ve seen really bad versions. It is what it is.

I went wheeling with a guy who had a new Sasquatch Bronco, and it absolutely slayed. It beat a couple decently modded FJCs and 4Runners in the group and one JKUS on 35s. It didn't beat my Rubi, but mine has a ton of good mods and it's on 37s. But the Bronco earned all our respect. Very impressive for IFS.

The difference maker was the locking front diff. I'd say it's more important than even a solid front axle up front. It would surely beat a non-modded 200 LC on any trail.

The bronco might not go 400k miles, but it will win in the trails against anything but a rubicon Jeep or a SAS'ed rig/trailer shitbox.

Side note: the Broncos that seem to be bending tie rods are all on 35s or larger. It's just too much tire for an IFS steering system. I know a guy with a REALLY modded FJ Cruiser on 39s who put the LC200 series R&P on it and he's still blowing through tie rods.

Yep.  Nissan's website says the Pathfinder is FWD or AWD so I doubt it is back to body on frame.

The FJ40 certainly was, and the rest up to the 80 were as well. Triple-locked diffs aren't on older LCs for dusty rutted roads. This argument always amuses me because, even in overlanding, you run into lots of rocks. Sometimes pretty substantial ones. Later model land cruisers have terrible approach/breakover/departure. That shit can get you stuck as bad as breaking a part will.

About your question, I would pick the land cruiser but not because of performance. Strictly because I might have a prayer at finding a spare part somewhere in africa. Something is bound to break on both of them. If there were tons of ranger platform parts out there I'd call it a 50/50 tossup.

Ford really screwed up naming that little SUV Bronco at all. They should have left Bronco alone and named the small ones something else.  They did the same thing on the Mustang.
