I wear a Rogue Breezy during warm weather. Don't care what people think, one of the benefits of getting old.

Sure you can. There's no rule against it. I have a collection of boonie hats that I rotate through. Various camo patterns and one I picked up in the PI. Speaking of the PI (and southeast Asia in general) have you ever considered one of the lamp shade hats? They seem to work pretty good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/zack3gpics/s-l1000_zpsj6y4zfnm.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

my wife is after me to be better about sun exposure. My poor mom had skin cancer. I've gotten better about using sunblock since met her, but only in the summer and spring. Maybe I could get a sombrero or one of those big coolie hats made out of wicker Unfortunately I don't think I can pull off a cowboy hat and can't wear a Boonie hat everywhere Sure you can. Tilley
There's a subculture of Tilley owners out here. We even gave our own secret greeting, bylaws, and protocol regarding who buys the drinks. |

I know your pain, Aimless. Only hats I've ever looked ok in were baseball caps.

used this one for about two years. Lived in both AZ and Los Angeles. i liked that it was breathable and keep the sun off my face.
Also use: Goormin Tilley and REI with the button sides. http://www.amazon.com/Quiksilver-Mens-Pierside-Straw-Hat/dp/B00GOX1DH6 |

I don't know about being that far north...
There is a style of hat that the coonasses/rednecks wear, kind of like a cowboy hat, but without the brim on the sides. The side brims are kind of rolled up/in. The closest I've seen to what matches it would been an Oz outback type hat. I don't know what it's actually called. Fuck... redneck cowboy hat?? I wear that style of hat. But then, I can pass as a country ass motherfucker. It would look really odd on a city person. -eta the brazillian tarp hat folks posted doesn't look that far off from what I was trying to describe. Just roll both sides of it more... |

A lady friend said 'ha, men and their hair' after I shaved my head of middle of the back length mane. Take your wife shopping with you and don't worry about it. |

I mow the yard and ride the noncanopied tractor in one of these. You have to own it. Any hint of embarassment and you've become dorky.

I have a nice collection of Boonie hats. I wear them outdoors all the time. I have desert camo and multi-cam. I love them.

Outlaw trucker hat, wicker hat they sell in gas stations with black spray paint and metal and shit on it. Put a fake hair pony tail in the back for a nice mullet effect

I have a straw hat I like. I has the Auzzy bro style fold to the brim. I put a leather band around it that has teeth in it. I look like a bro douche in it, but my wife loves it. It does have much better ear and neck sun protection than just a ball cap. I wear it on day outings and camping. I've got some ugly sun spots on my face. The dermatologist says they are ok now, but sun block and hats are a must.
I'd like to try the tarp hat one day. |

Boonie.
Tilly. Ball cap with fold-out neck shade. Any old "gardening hat" from Lowes / Home Depot. ... I guess that's about the order I'd look at. Oh, you could always just roll your shirt collar up to cover your neck, too. ETA I go with a boonie, but lots of dads chasing kids around the playground have the desert ball cap thing. If I needed to be "formalish" I guess I'd just slather on 80 SPF and go sans hat. |

Check out the hats by Sunday Afternoons, I have the cruiser sun hat which is not listed on their website but Gemplers has the cruiser, the cruiser sun hat and a boonie model which again is not on their website
They also make a Havana hat similar to a Panama Jack style hat |

My local fly fishing shop had a patagonia sun booney hat for 75% off. That was $10 well spent. It provides great sun protection.
