My first duty sidearm in 1981. I weighed around 165 and carrying it everyday was kicking my ass. I sold it and got a M66. Better duty weapon, but I wish I still had the M28.

Thanks man! I’m super pleased with it. Also just in case anyone is curious, the stag grips are from Tyler Gun Works as well. Bobby & his wife Paige were super fast & very responsive, I’d gladly do business with them again.

I always felt like a poser when I was wear one. But a nice threepersons from El Paso saddlery on a nice leather belt wasn't so tacky and more likely to be carried.

How did I fix this holster? So incredibly loose
Kirkpatrick leather (the OEM, purchased in 2022) won’t respond to my emails
I think having a piece of leather sewn on the inside where the blue line shows just to absorb some of that volume in there. Maybe 1” tall leather all the way belt loop to belt loop. I don’t need to be able to do American Ninja Warrior comps but maybe just hold it upside down and it not fall out.

Hopeless or doable? Who would I contact?

I love them and have them on two other j-frames.  it gives me just a bit more room to put a pinky on the grip and no finger grooves.

the revolver came as-is.  I suppose I need a key for the stupid lock, just in case it I need to unlock it for some reason.

As much as I love my big bores, I need something between an N and J frame. That chopper would be perfect, but I'm sure that's about $1500-2000 due to the melt job. My heart says a 2.5-3" L frame, common sense says K frame. Looks like I can pick up a 19-3/4 for $8-900 or a modern 66 for a little less. I would be shooting heavy 357s and 38s, so forcing cone issues on an early K frame would be a non-issue, right?

You should be fine but you'll need to learn how to fit hammer noses/hammers, extractors, hands, gas rings etc if you shoot a lot.

I'm waiting for a new extractor for my m66-8 but it's supposed to be a drop in part. That gun has 50k+ rounds though it too. Half of which were magnums and a lot of dryfireing.

I just remembered the Carry Comp exists. I think that would probably be most of what I need in a ready to go package.

Those are really nice. They just need a new front sight and grips.

The tritium in the front sight is tiny and the stock wood grips don't fit my hand at all

Picked this up today.  Barrel is marked DA .45 and has what I assume is a serial number that doesn't match the number on the frame.

A past owner tried to carve a new side plate out of aluminum and steel sheet.  I'm having a hell of a time finding a 4 screw side plate, but it shouldn't be much trouble modifying the 3 screw plate to work, just file off the nub and mill the recess for the 4th screw.

I still need to find a new barrel for it.  Already have a .45 Colt cylinder that I need to fit to it.  Haven't given the internals a good look yet, but double action doesn't work so I'm sure I'll have to replace something.

None of the finish is original, it's barbecue paint.  Looking at the internals it appears someone tried to do a trigger job and rounded off the top of the trigger so it just rolls off of the sear instead of catching it.

Not sure if I've shared this one before. 686-3 that I got from member ikor here before he passed. Added grips from John Culina and it's my EDC most of the time that I'm off in the woods or stomping the trails.

Now that it's revolver month, I have a line on a stainless Ruger Security Six in 357 priced at $400.  It's got some weird wear on it, looks like fleckled black spots.  some kind of corrosion?  none if it's in the barrel or cylinders, and it locks up fine with a good trigger.  If I didn't know better I'd say it was mold or tar.
