It is actually not bad at all, just horribly overpriced.
It should be around $75-90, not $200. You can get a bottle of Highland Park 18 for less and it is far better. |

Marketing and the mass market mentality is why Blue costs what it does.
It is not a scotch drinker's whisky. It is marketed to folks who want to impress themselves and others with a well known brand of good, inoffensive, costly whisky. Nothing wrong with that, but as others have posted, $200 plus dollars will buy a lot better scotch. |

BTW, there's nothing wrong with blended Scotches, especially in mixed drinks or just thrown over the rocks.
I get single malts... I've tried most... I enjoy many. But blends have their place, so there's no reason to be snobby. |

I prefer anything sherry cask so Macallan gets my vote in that price range. Bang for your buck?

To me, the "sweet spot" in whiskey is the $60-$120 price range.
Often, you can find something in that range that is just as good (obviously depending on your preferences) as whiskeys that are $150-$300 |

For that price I'd rather get a bottle of Balvenie 14yo Caribbean, a bottle of Glennfiddich 15yo Solera, and a couple bottles of Aberfeldy 12yo (for daily use).
JW is for people that don't know any other brand or only know that their dad/boss likes some kind of "Scotch". ETA Instead of the 2 bottles of Aberfeldy I may go for a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15yo, because I can. |

Frankly, when it comes to blends, Teachers for the money is great. If you spend more money than Teachers, just do yourself a favour and buy a bottle of single malt. Spend $5 on a Glencairn glass, lose the ice and water, shave the palms of your hands and enjoy God’s gift to a gentleman. |

I remember when they were $125 or so at Costco. I like it, but not at the current price point. My current favorite is Aberlour 18 yr old.

It's not even close to worth it.
A few of my friends and I formed a Scotch club. Together, we have sampled just about everything and now we dig around, trying to find something obscure that hasn't made the list. Is isn't that JW Blue is bad... it's just boring. It's a blend and it tastes like it. We have gone back to a few labels to do a repeat but JW was definitely one and done. |

I'm amazing at how much pricing for Blue Label varies depending on location.
In central PA it goes for $225 to $250.. Back on long island I had no problems getting it for $150 normal price. It's worth $150 max.. I personally wouldn't pay any more than that. There are plenty of good alternatives for the $150 and less price tag. |

Never ever pay that much for a POS blended. You would be much better off picking up a 12 or 15 year old Balvenie.

Johnny Walker blue always brings back memories of when I lived on the West side of Cleveland in the late 90s, Omar Vizquel (SS for the Indians at the time) would frequent the same liquor store as I and would always buy two bottles of JW blue from behind the cash register.

It's a good scotch for the beginner. Nothing off-putting, nothing extreme, just simple. Glenlivet 12 will cost less and serves the same purpose.
For the money, it's a terrible value. Makes a good gift since the recipient knows it's $$. Aberlour 16yr has become my second favorite followed by Abunadh. Macallan 12 is my every day go to. |

I’m not a big scotch guy, but a friend of a friend opened up a scotch bar, he kept feeding us drinks. There was stuff way better than JWB that was less expensive, also stuff the same price that was way better. |

I’ve drank a bottle of Blue Label . I’m not a big scotch guy but I liked it . I am a whiskey guy and the Single barrel offerings from Jack Daniels are excellent. If I am going for something less expensive or for mass consumption, George Dickel white label over No. 7 all day every day.

The Blue is a fine scotch. But I agree with the opinion it is overpriced. For that price, well I won't spend that much cause I can't tell the difference.
I'm happy with the Balvinie line. for upscale the 21 is excellent stuff and cheaper than JW Blue. And I think better. |

Cool Story Time
Back in 2008 my friend and I flew down to Dallas for Ozzfest. The night before, we went to Fogo De Chao for dinner. After we were done embarrassing ourselves with meat, he went to the bathroom and I waited on the drink/dessert cart. It came, and I decided to splurge and ordered a Blue Label for $32. My friend came back as they were pouring mine, sat down and said "I'll have what he's having" without looking at the menu. He was less than amused when I told him what he just did

I've always liked Red Label just fine. But I'm cheap. That said, Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage is distilled in the Garden of Eden and my go to liquor.
