Quoted: Typical fuckin' GD responses: people posting bullshit on stuff they know nothing about, making baseless insults, or commenting on politics when it has nothing to do with the topic. Y'all are nothing if not predictable. View Quote You gotta remember that the average age of GD is like 72. Most of these dudes gotta turn their hearing aids up so they can listen to their hank Sr records. |

Super convicting for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKtz6qOtqv4 I like a fair bit of Whiskey Myers's music. I like his voice and a few of his songs. He isn't one I listen to a lot, though. It's more 'traditional' country music, which is the point. |

I'm not seeing Paul Cauthen mentioned yet, so I'll just through him in.
Dead South too. List of modern country is pretty decent here. |

Country music ceased to exist after 1980. Peak country music was mid to late sixties

Got to admit, most male pop-country on the radio today seems to be suffering from Low T, voices just seem to get higher and whiny 'er.

Quoted: Cody Jinks, Aaron Lewis, Colter Wall, and Whiskey Myers are the only "new" artists I've heard lately that are worth a shit. If I hear auto tuned vocals and dance beats, I turn it off. That ain't country. View Quote Good names in there. There's actually quite a bit of good new country music but you have to seek it out. Unfortunately even more of it is almost good but suffers from "trying too hard to sound country" which just makes it sound exaggerated and fake. |

Quoted: modern country music is gay pop music. View Quote Nailed it. I watched enough of the CMA awards last week to see Luke Combs get an award for singing it exactly like Tracy. My wife has heard both and can't tell who is singing. Tracy Chapman also got a CMA award for writing it. FWIW: I bought Tracy's CD the first time I heard Fast Car. |

I love the Troubador's music. The Bird Hunters is a great tune.

I made a claim and provided several examples. Y'all didn't even have to look anything up - just click. OP had 6 songs in it. A half dozen people posted in less time than it would take to listen to half of one song. Many of the others OBVIOUSLY didn't listen to any examples before commenting. Quoted: That's the real problem with this argument. There is great country music being made, but it's now called Americana. You'll see all almost all the artists mentioned here at the Americana Music Awards, but won't ever see them at the CMAs, and you won't hear it on FM radio. Sturgill Simpson won a country music Grammy a few years ago, and put it in his guitar case on the ground while busking in front of the building during the CMAs to which he wasn't even invited. Same. Most of the music I actually enjoy these days is acoustic and has no electronics at all used in the production. I joke that I'm the middle-aged hipster who listens to bands you've never heard of and don't use any electricity. |
