Bushmaster.com Press Release

5th paragraph:

The Bushmaster ACR for the commercial market is available in the Basic and Enhanced configurations.  The additional features for the Enhanced version include an AAC® Blackout™ NSM Flash Hider for exceptional reduction of muzzle flash; multi-functional, three-sided aluminum hand guard with integral MIL-STD 1913 accessory rail; and folding, six-position telescoping composite stock with rubber butt pad, sling attachment mounts and 2-point push button sling. Each configuration of the commercial ACR is offered in a non-reflective, black finish or Coyote Brown (30118).  Suggested retail price: Basic $2,685 and Enhanced $3,061.

So much for that...

Well, guess who's decided not to give Bushmaster a dime, ever.  I really wanted one of these, but I will not pay over $1000 more than it was supposed to be offered at, and certainly not for a 1/9 twist rate barrel without an adjustable stock.

In all fairness, when was the last time you paid "MSRP" for a gun? Or a car? Or anything...?

Still, if the MSRP is set at $2,700, then the actual "sreet price" will still be over the $2,000 mark.

Time will tell...I'm sure there will be plenty of golfers with guns waiting in line to buy it at any price. Once the patsies have filled their safes, caliber-swapping to 7.62xFuckYou and the like have been established, all the initial bugs have been worked out and I can get a basic model with folding stock and 1/7" twist...then I'll buy.

...assuming the price is right.

I'm hearing from people there, dealer-types, that are hearing $2k+ COST, never mind street price.

I'll chalk that up to industry rumor-mongering (not on your part, of course) until proven otherwise.

A $2,700 MSRP with a dealer cost of $2,000 for a base model is absolute insanity. Bushmaster can't possibly be that foolish...

Again, there is sure to be initial MSRP-like pricing...because the ones who want it now and have to have it will pay the price.

Guys like you and I, who make up the vast majority of the Black Rifle Fraternity, will stick with our M4s and high-end Kalashnikovs before dropping $2,700 for a base model rifle sporting a Starship Troopers-style chassis.

For that kind of coin, I'd take the FN SCAR.

For $1500-$1700 I'd get it.

Or, I could just buy a lot of .45 ACP  to feed this...

They probably have people watching threads like these so they get a feel for how much of a "scalping" their customer base is willing to tolerate.  Hopefully we know tomorrow.

I find it hard to believe they want a price in excess of the SCAR L while saying production will be realistic and not limited, that would be stupid and arrogant.

At that price I'd go for the SCAR L which will be cheaper.

According to some other members on this site who contacted Bushmaster, the MSRP has been confirmed at $2,700 for the basic model, more for the enhanced model.

If true, fuck that noise.

Yep.  No thanks!

AR-15s have dropped under $1000 once again.  Easy choice.

I bought a machine gun for less than the cost of the ACR.

They are out of their goddamned minds. For that kind of money it needs to run like the gun in that video.

Well, that decides it.

I was going to buy one if it was less than $2,000.

Sorry, Bushmaster, looks like I'm going to put that money towards a PKM or SVD instead.

If they aren't watching yet, they soon will be. I'll chalk up the lack of Magpul and/or Bushmaster participation to SHOT Show shenanigans. It is a pretty busy industry out there right now.

Seriously, though...there is no way in the Bloody Pit of Hades that even the most dedicated of "Fong Men" will buy at that price. Hell...even for $2,000 "street price" it had better come multi cal-friendly right out of the box, as in "...and here we also have the 7.62x39mm conversion for $Duckets". Not tomorrow, not next year, not eventually.

Hell...even then...

Anyhow, I won't worry about it until actual dealer cost is proven beyond doubt. Even then I won't worry about it much. My M4 and Kalash worked just fine yesterday...they'll work just fine until caseless ammunition and/or plasma rifles become available.

Me too.  $1500 and I am their Huckleberry.  There is no way I can justify the price of three AR's for one of these considering the damn thing is much cheaper to manufacture than an AR.  The upper is an extrusion and many parts are molded polymer.

Nearly three grand is too much to pay for an updated AR-18.

I am a Magpul Fanboi but I have my limits and this is well beyond them.

Yup.    For 2k I can build a very nice AR, on a reciever I already have sitting in my safe.    Probably even with optics included.       I was ready to do it at 1500.      I knew some of the first ones would go for more than that(supply and demand thing), but 3K?  That is just fucking stupid and out of line; especially if it is their retail price.

After seeing that its fucking $2,685 for the basic version on their press release, I am fucking bummed. I really think there is going to be alot of resentment now that the price has actually been released. For that much i may just spend the extra 900 and get a LWRC REPR.

Delusional.

Maybe they can justify it as a business decision if they had really limited production numbers and demand so exceeded supply that they had to ration them by price. But even then the price is a giant fuck you. It shouldn't be that hard for them to crank out a few thousand more and maybe have a wait list.

IIRC, MagPul's decision to "partner up" with Bushmaster was motivated by the fact that Bushmaster would be capable of the mass production necessary to keep the price point reasonable, or words to that effect.
