Kim Pegula health issues finally revealed in lengthy update by daughter Jessica Pegula
The mystery as to the health issues of Buffalo Bills co-owner Kim Pegula were at long last revealed Tuesday morning in a story written by her daughter, Jessica Pegula, at the website The Players Tribune. Jessica Pegula said her mother suffered cardiac arrest at the family home in Florida last June. She had been sleeping and when she began to go into arrest, her husband, Terry Pegula, awoke and found her unresponsive. She was actually saved by another of the Pegula children, daughter Kelly, who performed CPR while an ambulance was en route to the home. Paramedics continued life-saving measures on the way to the hospital, and Kim was admitted, and the biggest concern was whether she suffered any brain damage due to lack of oxygen. “Today, my mom is still in recovery and although it is the same answer every time someone asks me, it is true, she is improving every day,” Jessica Pegula wrote of her mother, who was an orphan from South Korea and adopted by Ralph and Marilyn Kerr who raised her in Fairport. “She is dealing with significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues. She can read, write, and understand pretty well, but she has trouble finding the words to respond. “It is hard to deal with and it takes a lot of patience to communicate with her, but I thank God every day that we can still communicate with her at all. The doctors continue to be blown away by her recovery, considering where she started, and her determination is the driving force of that.” ... |

Both Brady and JJ Watt retired this season. That means they will both be in the same HOF draft class.
Brady was already 34 years old and in the league for over a decade when JJ was drafted. |

Mediating in the dark helps to stimulate the pineal gland, which enhances clarity and discernment. You can use the teachings of this ancient technique to clear light from your mind and pair mantra with meditation to heal energy during challenging times."

ESPN just lost a lawsuit in Phoenix over un-Constitutional limitation of free-speech and property rights due to their Super Bowl "clean zones".
TLDR: Phoenix City-Council passed an ordinance banning any signage not approved by the NFL and the council (limiting advertisements strictly to NFL sponsors). Man sued because he wanted to sell signage space on his own building to a non-NFL sponsor company. Judge ruled in his favor saying the council's decision was "totally antithetical to the principles of limited government". WHOLE lot more in the article, including a story of how the NFL made a food truck paint their tires with black paint because the tires were a different brand than Bridgestone (official NFL sponsor). |

The new 5th year option totals for 2020 1st round picks have been made official. This covers Burrow, Tua, Herbert and of course all the non-QBs. I'll cover the positions that are most likely to see options.
Quarterbacks range from $20.7M (no qualifiers) up to $32.4M (2 Pro Bowls) Receivers range from $13.0M up to $19.7M Offensive Lineman range from $13.6M up to $18.2M Defensive End range from $12.1M up to $19.7M Defensive Tackle range from $10.5M up to $18.9M Edit: Herbert and Burrow both have 1 Pro Bowl + Playtime Criterion = $29.5M Tua has no Pro Bowl (he could have gone as an alternate this year but was still in Concussion Protocol) and due to his injuries he JUST missed out on meeting the Playtime Criterion, so he would be at the minimum $20.7M. |

Titans hired a female coach. I have no words..................
Yeah, I'm SURE she had lots to do with the Bucs D during their SB run.................. During her tenure with the Bucs, they led the NFL in rushing defense, allowing only 92.3 yards per game. Additionally, the team ranked fifth in sacks (187), third in tackles for loss (348), first in quarterback hits (452) and fifth in takeaways (102). Nose tackle Vita Vea earned his first Pro Bowl selection, while totaling 15 sacks between 2019 and 2022, a total that led all nose tackles. Locust joined fellow Buccaneers assistant Maral Javadifar in becoming the first women on an NFL coaching staff to win a Super Bowl (LV). Prior to joining Tampa Bay, Locust was the assistant defensive line coach for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football and served as a coaching intern with the Baltimore Ravens during their 2018 training camp. Locust held a variety of coaching roles leading up to her entry into the NFL coaching ranks, including time with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (National Arena League), Central Penn Capitals (NAL) and the York Capitals (American Indoor Football). She also served as a coach for the Central Penn Pairanha (semi-professional) and her high school alma mater, Susquehanna Township H.S. She attended Temple University and also played football (2004-08) for the Central Penn Vipers in the Independent Women's Football League. View Quote |

If I read his contract details correctly on OTC, he has already collected most of what was guaranteed at signing. If he's still under contract on Feb 15th, an additional $32.9M for 2023 and $7.5M for 2024 becomes guaranteed. If he's cut, there's $1.9M per year in prorated bonus money for 2023-2025 that's still on the books, but I'm guessing that was already paid to him. Between the contract numbers and the no trade clause, it doesn't feel like the Raiders have much leverage here. And if he gets cut, he's probably the #1 or #2 free agent QB on the market this year when a good number of teams need QBs. |

The NFL Network has pulled Michael Irvin from the remainder of their Super Bowl week after a woman complained about his conduct during an encounter Sunday evening in Arizona.
This thing sounds strange as hell. There is no report of what the accusation is, but we do already have some of Irvin's response to it: Click To View Spoiler "Honestly, I'm a bit baffled with it all," Irvin said. "This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out ... I came into the lobby, and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl. I don't know her, and I talked to her for about 45 seconds.
"We shook hands. Then, I left. ... That's all I know." Irvin, a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, said he hadn’t seen the woman before or since their talk, which he estimated lasted up to a minute. He said he is unable to recall the full nature of their conversation but insisted the only physical contact between the two was the handshake. “I don’t really recall that conversation, to tell you the truth,” Irvin said. “We were out drinking. It was just a friendly conversation. ‘What’s up?’ I don’t even know. ... I am totally perplexed.” Irvin indicated there is video of the lobby encounter but has not personally viewed the footage. He said he does not know the woman’s name. A Glendale police spokesperson and officials from other local police agencies said Tuesday they have no knowledge of any incident involving Irvin. Irvin said there “absolutely was no sexual wrongdoing.” “What law did I break?” Irvin said. “There was definitely nothing physical. ... That’s honestly all that happened. Nobody was in my room. It was a 45-second conversation in the lobby, a handshake and we left. ... I don’t know. I don’t know what this is, and it’s running me crazy.” |

ProFootball Network's Tony Pauline reports Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is expected to take a "large pay cut" to remain with the team.
Cowboys GM Jerry Jones has said the team wants Elliott, who is scheduled to make $16.7 million, back for 2023. Releasing Elliott ($5M cap savings) remains in play but would come with $12 million in dead money. Elliott returning on a restructured deal may be the likeliest outcome, allowing Dallas to keep him on the roster at a reduced salary. The Cowboys also have an interest in bringing back free agent Tony Pollard this offseason. |

NFL and DAZN sign deal for the worldwide (excluding China) streaming rights to NFL Game Pass International. The 10 year deal is reportedly worth $1B or $100M per season.
DAZN has distributed NFL Game Pass in Canada since 2017 and has been the league's broadcast partner in Germany and Japan since 2016 as well as Italy since 2018. Football fans outside the U.S. can watch every league regular season and postseason game on NFL Game Pass International, including the Super Bowl. Available on Smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles. It also includes NFL Network, NFL RedZone and NFL Films programming. I wonder how much it costs. It says price varies by country. If there is a cheap country, then wouldn't combining an NFL Game Pass International subscription with a VPN set to said country be the cheapest option to watch whatever game you want all season long? No black outs?... Not a bad idea to look into. |

Interview with Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola on their experience with the 80 for Brady movie. Spoiler tags used to keep the post smaller.
Do you remember your initial reaction when Tom gave you a call and asked you to be in the movie? Click To View Spoiler Julian Edelman: I think he just texted me, like, "Yo, bro, I need you for something - you in?" I was like, "Yeah, I'm in, dude." And then I show up and it's 80 for Brady, and I'm like, "What are we doing? Tom, you could have at least told me." Danny Amendola: I was really excited. I didn't know much about it, but I knew I was going to have the opportunity to work with Sally Field, and she's a lifelong crush of mine, ever since Smokey and the Bandit. So I was amped up! After Super Bowl LI, if I had told you that one day they were going to make a movie about it, but it would star Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Sally Field, and you’d play yourselves, but only in two scenes, how insane would I have sounded? Click To View Spoiler DA: We could never imagine. At halftime, Julian kept saying, “This is going to be a hell of a story,” and, obviously, it turned out to be one of the most amazing games. Hopefully the movie’s pretty good, but I haven't gotten to see it yet. Julian, have you? JE: No, I haven't. It was just cool to be a part of it and to see these ladies in their element, and how they turned it on, and how they were with people. We were pretty much stand-ins, so we were just kind of there and got to observe how they worked, and it was awesome to experience that. DA: For me, the best part was that I got to talk to Sally about how she got started in acting. And she learned from doing improv, so when she approaches a scene in a movie, she and the director know she can go off-script a little bit. And it really made my job as a first-time actor that much easier, because we were just sitting down and having a conversation, and the next thing I know, the scene's over. So it was a very comfortable situation. JE: My scene was with Rita, and it was the same exact experience. All of a sudden she's touching my beard, and I'm feeling warm and fuzzy, and then it was over. It was really cool to see how they flip a switch, and they don't let us know what's going on because they want that genuine response. Were there any nerves coming into this? Luckily, you’re playing yourselves, in a football locker room, with some of your closest friends. Click To View Spoiler JE: [Laughs.] It was so hard. DA: We were in the locker room, and we were supposed to be exhausted. And I remember, after that game, I was so tired that I couldn't even see straight, and I was trying to put myself back in that situation. But I found myself just smiling the whole time because I was working with Sally and I was just so happy to be there. Danny, you’ve played for a couple different teams, but had the greatest success of your career with the Patriots. And Julian, the Patriots are the only NFL team that you’ve ever known. So what was it like reuniting with this special group and putting that Pats jersey back on together? Click To View Spoiler JE: That was fun, because we all haven't been with each other in that uniform since that game. Danny went to another team the next year, and that kind of changed everything. And it was literally like hanging out in the locker room. Because there was so much downtime in-between things, we were hanging out and shooting the crap like we used to DA: It was like getting the band back together. We were actually throwing the ball around for three hours. We were running plays, and playing with everybody that was around. They saw a football and some football players and wanted to get in on the action. So we ended up having a low-key football game in the middle of these trailers. In your first scene, you’re both just kind of sitting there and chilling as Tom listens to a big emotional speech that Lily Tomlin delivers, and then Tom responds by barking out one of his famous “Let’s go” rally calls. What was it like watching Tom dabble in drama? Were you looking at each other, like, “Did Tom take some acting classes ahead of this?” Click To View Spoiler DA: He's particular, and he wants to do everything at a really high level. So he was practicing in his trailer, tuning up his lines, getting ready to go. And when we got into our uniforms, they were pretty good movie quality but they weren't the same. We had to fix Tom's uniform up to make it look like the jersey that he actually wore in the game, otherwise it wouldn't feel right. But, at the end of the day, Tom killed it.
JE: It was funny because he handled it like how he handled his professional career on the field. Like, it doesn't matter his role. He was over there in his trailer, like, "Hey, can you run lines with me?” And he would look at me and test something out, and I'm like, "You're good, bro. You're good." [Laughs.] But that's because he cares about anything that he does. DA: I think he put his lines on his quarterback wristband and was reading off of it in case he forgot. He had his own little teleprompter. |
