I dont think what he said on that comedy central thing was good and honestly, his explanation on the podcast was not that convincing.
Having met the guy and taken his class, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he just had a mental fuckup. His class is all about 2A and he's constantly saying that if you are allowed to carry, you should. Part of what PatMac teaches, if you have ever even bothered to check, is that developing a skill takes a certain amount of repitition and practice, regardless of how fast you learn, or how capable you think you are, or, in the case of the 'comedy video, aren't.' Background checks are a necessary evil in today's society. Like it or not. So are handgun waiting periods. Don't like it? Get a weapon's permit. Practice so that you will know how to, and can, if you ever need to, like it actually says we should be doing. Work on defensive skills, not things you probably won't be doing. Nothing these guys are teaching says that we will be rolling out or kicking in doors. We will be defending ourselves, or a critical infrastructure of some kind, or holding a line. Wanna be a high speed guy? Go enlist, and do it for real, like they did. We don't rise to the level of our expectations, we sink to the level of our training. Patmac is anything but anti 2A. People like to start crap when there isn't any crap to start. He's just as entitled to his opinion about how to do this as you are yours. I respect Pat for his service to this country. I have some guys in my group that have trained with him and speak very highly of him. After seeing his twitter post on waiting periods, I can't support him. |
