It's not about hating "capitalism", it's about ethics and disliking people who have none. I don't mean you, nor do I believe all realtors are dirt, but there are certainly ones who are scum. The realtor I used was great. I don't know if he was the exception or if he represented the majority.

I was lucky to get a very excellent realtor when I purchased my first house. After hearing the issues caused by inept/shady realtors from fellow coworkers I an extremely thankful for the realtor that was recommended to me. Most recently my coworker didn't find out about the owners homestead exemption (huge property tax break) until he was signing all the papers during closing. Since this is public information and takes less than a minute to look up on the County Treasurers site this is one of very first things discussed. They were paying only 10% property taxes that a normal person would. When you close the payment is base on that and then will go up later. So imagine being told you would pay x each month then it going up $200 a month. My realtor very early on told me that the taxes would go up x amount because it was a new build and the previous taxes were just on the land.

Former neighbor down the street put a rummage sale sign on a 3' tall aluminum step ladder right in the middle of my driveway approach when I wasn't home. Needless to say the ladder was no longer usable afterwards

. PD removed 2 of his earlier signs he taped to the stop sign pole and stick in one on the terrace (big no no per city ordinances here) so he put the one in my driveway. Guy was the neighborhood nuisance and his wife was the busy body putting her nose in everyones business. Caught their kids trying to climb up my cargo trailer. Mommy and daddy got pissed when I yelled at them to get off and get the hell out of my yard and stay out. My next door neighbor caught them playing in his boat the week before and fucked it up (they had the outboard cover off and pulled wires). Should mention they are about 12 and 14 at the time and the cops were not amused.

Pretty hilarious when every neighbor told them to control their damn kids and stay the fuck off their property (wife was as bad as the kids by looking in windows of doors and walking into peoples backyards looking around).

It's still years away ... and it's not like there's a customs inspection when a moving container arrives on the island, right?

Plus, once I retire, I'll presumably be frail and half-blind, so a lot of the high-speed stuff won't be that relevant for me anymore. Also, the land we are looking at is in a gated community, so I assume the fat pacific islander zombies won't be able to get to us.

ETA: We're also going to get rid of the Porsches, and buy a crew-cab F150 instead.
