There is fundamental issue with the "promise" to not move NATO east, and why I'm terribly suspicious that anybody who pushes it, is actually a Russian psyop account / paid propagandist.
It denies European nations any form of agency. Till the Russian invasion of Ukraine we spent decades trying to herd the cats of eruope. They constantly ignored us when it came to matters of trade, cutting their defense budget etc. They flouted sanctions against the Irianians hard core, and only now are realizing "whoops we shouldn't have done that" Because the Iranians want to fuck over Europe too. None of the past 30 years indicates Europe is a freaking puppet of the US. Now onto "NATO started it bullshit" German reuinfiocation happened in 1990, and of course Germany kept its NATO membership. What was the next country added to NATO? The czech republic, hungary and poland joined in 1999. Now what happened in between 1990 and 1999? 1991 Russia overthrows the newly democratically elected government of Georgia to install a puppet, and then supports the puppet in the following civil war. Only to turn around and stab its puppet in the back by breaking away parts of Georgia as "autonomous zones" Also 1991 Russia throws in with pro Russian rebels to overthrow the government of Moldova (which even neutrality as a central point of their constitution) but settles for breaking off a chunk of Moldova which it occupies to this day. 1992 -1999 Russia supports its puppet in Tajikstan kicking off a civil war there and sparking the Chechnya and Dagestani conflicts. Russia meddling in sovereign countries it believes are "rightly its territory" made the eastern europeans nervous and wanting to join NATO... why the hell wouldn't it? |
