Oddly enough that's one of my favorite movies, but I really think it would be better with the captain's hat like the judge had in Caddyshack. |

Don't forget the goalie mask. |
Two pages and no one has mentioned urban camo? WTF, we all know thats what we need to be wearing!
ACUs are worthless. If I wasn't made to wear them, i wouldn't. I have about 20 sets of pressed BDUs still sitting in my basement, so if I needed to wear something that might get trashed, i'd go with those.
U.S. Cavalry has them BDU-style for $30 each (jacket, pants) and ACU-style for about twice that. Boonie hat is $15. Don't remember the price for helmet covers, but they finally have them back in stock. ETA: Price went up on the BDU-style Multicam. It's $35 a piece now. Made by Propper. Helmet covers are about $15, MICH and PASGT styles. |

I figure green flannel, camouflage-ish, and won't freak out anyone who happens to see me
but if it is bad enough I have to go covert, I have Canuck Olive drab BDUs |
ACU, BDU, or Airsoft ninja?
I'd like to see you wearing any of those from december to march. |

Carhartt type work pants or non descript cargos, hiking boots and a T-shirt.
urban: street clothes (though 'urban' where I live has heavy natural concealment [trees, bushes, etc.] so regular camo would probably work as well)
rural: marpat (if the S ever HTF I intend to bugout to a very large area close by that is densely forested) |

go big or go home eh? |

If I saw some dude running down the road; dress up like Darth Vader and carrying a rifle. I don't think I would want to mess with him, because he's probably got a few screws loose in the head. |

I ran an "Op" against some serial doorbell ditchers two weeks ago.
I wore a black T-Shirt, blue jeans, Bates desert boots and a fuzzy, brown blanket I stole off my sleeping 3 year old on the couch. I fired nearly 400 rounds of airsoft at them from distances of 15-50 yards. Even when they knew my general area, they still couldn't find me. I was laying prone in some bushes under the fuzzy brown blanket. I might have well been invisible. Only after I jumped up and initiated a fixed bayonet charge did they find out exactly where i was. that was about the time they commenced the girlie-scream retreat maneuver. |
That just made my night, thank you |
Easy. Wait until night. Take out the transformers feeding your neighborhood using the remote charges you planted in advance for just this sort of emergency. Commence operations with NVG wearing whatever you like.
I just wanna know if you're gonna throw your clothes down the driveway to make them look more used. |
Jeans, Work Boots, Polo Shirt, Belt, Gloves.
Over which would be Molle and Weapon gear. |

OMFG-ROFL |

Tactically speaking, it really depends on your surrounding. Our neighborhood team squad wears this and will never think about fashion before function. One must be prepared for daylight and the cover of darkness, but you can go a little footloose.
hehe. me too. my wife thinks it's boring |
Great looking gear! Where can I find that shirt and pants? |
Holy Cow...my wife just told me she bought me a digital boonie cap..I think its Marpat...
mil-h-44105 8415-01-519-8705 she said she totally forgot about it and put it in her closet...lol looking it up now. |

While I really like the look of Multicam, I think I would feel like a total geek wearing a set of it. My "urban camo" is Carharts. I do have some BDU pants, in Navy, Khaki, and one pair in OD, but I only typically wear those camping or to the shooting range..
I tend to agree. Best not to wear something that is just going to be a big "shoot me" sing. Go with a "uniform" that lets you blend in with the people , rather than the forest. |
I am thinking plaid flannel and levis for me, may not be cool guy, but it sure blends in around here.
Soldiers wear uniforms, wannabes in uniforms get killed. I plan to be neither, if I need to fight it will not be in a traditional military manner, and tradidional military clothing would not work well at all. |
Depends who I am up against.
I'd probably bug in and wear something that would identify myself as a friendly to the local cops and any .mil in the area. A tactical vest with a visible American flag on it would be a must. |
Woodland BDU's - they work fine and there was no need to change them (except they didn't want to issue coffee stains anymore).
Quoted:
"normal" clothes-- jeans, a jacket, something non-descript. that way if I need to ditch my stuff and disappear it is a LOT easier. The VC realized this, and so did the Iraqis. Camouflage makes you stick out like a sore thumb in an urban environment Best to not stick out. Cargo pants some boots and a top that could conceal a handgun and some body armor if possible. |

I wear my Night Desert jacket all the time. It's like a trench coat with a hood. Eventually, I'm going to spray it with scotch-guard to make it water resistant. As a camo pattern, it's only good in VERY low-light conditions. It'd be pretty decent camo lying prone on the edge of the forest. Then again, in those conditions, just about anything would work. There's a reason it was only issued during Gulf War 1, and then subsequently surplused. It's cool, but not all that useful. Kinda like east-bloc "rain" camo. |
This makes perfect sense.
I'm right there, only because I got four sets for 100% less than N_T paid for his. I've also got about six sets of woodland BDUs for the same price. Shit, I could mix-n-match! But when it comes down to it, I'd rather wear something comfortable and functional. It may be cargo pants, it may be jeans. Either way, my "neighborhood" is a small subdivision (~30 houses) and can be secured quite easily & well. I've given it some thought. |
