Quoted: @Zhukov What we know at this point.... Shooter was a white male in his 30's who indiscriminately shot innocent people, including children. I think that last part should be sufficient to satisfy the "criteria of people [we] don't like." That stands regardless of his politics, religion, sexual orientation, favorite color, favorite football team, and if he put beans in chili. What we SHOULD be discussing is the fact that he was able to hijack a postal vehicle. If it weren't for gun free zones, the mail carrier would have / should have shot the son of a bitch dead on the spot and still made his deliveries on time. View Quote |

She shouldn't have any access to a weapon unless she get's some training from me. It's becoming more apparent to me that rifle training is our most undeveloped skill with youngsters. |

Quoted: Hope that's not the case here. Wasn't the truck a Tacoma? Then if an ar15 with pistol brace and white male we have someone here on this site :( This person was evil. I do hope the evil is from another identified group and not from within. Better if we don't have evil in the word. View Quote Today at approximately 3:13 p.m. (CST), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gold passenger vehicle on Interstate 20 westbound near mile marker 131. Prior to the vehicle coming to a complete stop, the male driver (and only occupant in the vehicle) pointed a rifle toward the rear window of his car and fired several shots toward the DPS patrol unit. The patrol unit was occupied by two Troopers, and one was hit by the gunfire. The suspect fled the scene and continued shooting innocent people, including a Midland police officer and an Odessa police officer. The Trooper is in serious but stable condition, and the two other officers are in stable condition at a local hospital. DPS initially provided and will continue to provide resources and support for this incident, including Troopers, Special Agents, Texas Rangers, multiple aircraft and our Major Crime Scene Unit. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be released by DPS at this time. For information on victims of this shooting and any other questions, we would refer you to the Odessa Police Department. |

Quoted: If you worked with the FBI in the past then you know that assistance to local and state LE when requested is one of the seven core missions on the FBI. The Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012 permits the U.S. attorney general—at the request of appropriate state or local law enforcement personnel—to provide federal assistance during active shooter incidents and mass killings (defined by the law as three or more people) in public places. The attorney general delegated this responsibility to the FBI. There are things the FBI does well and things they don’t. One of those things the FBI does very well is crime scene processing. Another is bringing in large numbers of trained personnel on short notice. No matter how good the Midland, Odessa and DPS teams are, this incident involves multiple crime scenes over a large area. If you have worked crime scenes you know working them properly is a lot of work. Many hands make light work. Also it’s not just the postal truck, there are federal murder statutes The murder of a postal employee (or any federal employee) in the course of their employment is a federal crime under 18 USC 1114. |

I haven't heard yet, but was there a postal employee in the USPS van? The story is it was hijacked. I'm not hearing if the employee was one of the victims, since this asshole was shooting everyone else.

I’m not buying the guy had a rifle. How can someone drive and shoot behind them or be agile while driving with a rifle? Wouldn’t a handgun be easier to deal with one handed? Also, this guy would have been driving around with a rifle on the front seat ready to go? View Quote Edit - beat like a red headed stepchild. Still something stinks |

I'm betting this guy heard about the zero tolerance plan of the local police, loaded a weapon and went about breaking traffic laws until he got lit up.
He is known to law enforcement so I'm guessing he instigated it. |
