Quoted: According to a poster from the last page it’s Boba because it’s the same actor that played Jango. Ya ya I know Rex is a clone of Jangos but he was never seen in anything Disney live action so I’ll assume the actor that played Jango fittingly plays Boba. View Quote Oh yea, forgot that was the same dude. Or maybe his son? |
|
Quoted: Yep. However he is rumored to be playing Rex this season as well. Rex should show up when Ahsoka does. View Quote Man can’t wait for Ahsoka to show up. But tbh, it needs to be Boba cause of the armor and the fact that it’s been recovered on Tatooine. But I would understand the story going to Rex and Ahsoka as well cause of the mission to deliver the child to its kind. |

While he didn't have the right to wear the armor, I believe that the Marshal's decision to wear it to save his town was entirely...
Justified. |

Quoted: Yeah, I think it’s been widely accepted Fett survived. His armor had to come out of the sarlac and the lore is written that Fett blasted and cut his way out. View Quote Heck, back in ‘83 the Marvel Comics had the Sarlacc belch him out. Attached File Attached File |

So, other than a bad joke, some thoughts:
I like that they gave a callback to the way Han fired off Boba's jet pack, when Din intentionally did what Han had accidentally done in ROTJ. Does Din know whose armor that is? I'd have to think the odds of that are high. Fett was extremely well known in bounty Hunter circles, and real Mando or not, I would expect the Mandalorians to be well aware of him. Din clearly has spent a lot of time on Tattooine. Was he partially raised there? Did he cross paths with Fett before? Was he startled by a "Mando" removing his helmet, or by the face not being Fett? It's worth noting that Din has not yet left the planet. I wonder if "presumed Fett" has a mode of transport that might get him back to civilization before Din takes off. |

Something else I just realized. The Krayt dragon wasn’t just a krayt dragon but a subspecies of it - the Greater Krayt dragon. |
|
Quoted: Correct. Rex was retconned into ROTJ as the bald, white bearded commando on Endor. Boba should appear much younger as he is an unaltered clone of Jango with no accelerated aging programmed into him. It could be Rex or another clone. But it’s not. It’s Boba. How is this even a question? View Quote Just saw this. You are correct. Rex was already old AF in rebels. If anything, he’ll have an appearance later in the series. |
|
What the hell were those tubes on Boba Fett’s armor? I don’t remember anything like that in ROTJ.

Apparently, the Weequay bartender was played by W. Earl Brown. So this was a bit of a Deadwood/Justified reunion.

Quoted: They clearly got an fx budget increase. I loved that they still used many practical effects though. Even with the best cgi, you can tell real props/muppets/creatures from the computer stuff. I also much love the TIME INCREASE! There is actually time for a story to develope, characters to be established, and a story told!!! View Quote Yep. The dragon had seriously top tier CGI for just a one off episode. That's the kind of thing you saw in the big spectacle battles in the later Game of Thrones seasons. I wonder if all the episodes will be 50 minutes going forward, or just the premier. |

Good episode. Does anyone know what the sand people pulled out of that things stomach? Pearl or egg?

Interesting tidbits:
In A New Hope C3PO stands in front of a krayt dragon skeleton before he sees the Jawa’s sand crawler. When Luke is being attacked by the sand people the whoop noise that you hear is Obi Wan making a krayt dragon call that scares the sand people off. |
|
Quoted: I thought an egg, but a pearl makes more sense. Why would they want to raise another monster? Maybe Krayt pearls are worth a fortune offworld. View Quote Good observation, and I thought it was a little too shiny to be an egg, but I had no idea really. They sure were in a hurry to get that thing out. lol |

That was a great episode. Fantastic way to start the new season. I hope all the episodes going forward are this length. Some of the first season episodes felt a little rushed.

When I saw the Marshall in the Fett armor I thought it was a woman because it was so ill fitting. I assume that the poor fit was intentional to relay that something wasn't quite right. I know that Boba Fett is not physically imposing so I didn't think his armor would be huge but the Marshall wore it like a feed sack.
I like how they make the Sand People have some honor and more sympathetic, not just mindless brutes. Also shrewd negotiators in the fact that they knew about the pearl and bargained for sole possession of the carcass as part of the deal. |
|
Better than I expected.
Season 2 is off to a great start and I hope they keep the momentum going. |
|
Surprised there had been no discussion of how the krayt dragon stuff borrowed super heavily from the KOTOR quest. Even ending with getting a pearl out.
