Talent is an absolute necessity for winning championships. Coaching, attention to detail and luck complete the puzzle. |

They've been trying to stop the cursing and tortillas since the early 70s at least. Made progress in tortillas not causing delays, students practice their chants before games now. Fu baker was a bad choice we all know that sorta thing fueled his best performances |

MSU had a solid early signing class.
Currently ranked better than Ole Miss, so I'll take it. I guess when your head coach is listed as leading candidate to several head coaching gigs it has a negative effect on recruiting. We had another coach that liked to search for jobs late in the year and that had to affect recruiting (Mullen). Leach is getting some of the best players he's ever had and I can't wait to see this play out. |

I'm still very surprised Jacksonville canned Meyer...but I doubt there will be any shortage of job offers in the future (except maybe from the NFL).

View Quote Leach and Kiffin both have developed their coaching mythology, game planning, and offenses around creatively using less on field talent. Leach doesn't *need* a top 5 class to be deadly on any given Saturday in the conference. But without that talent I don't think it's nearly as easy to win the SEC. But Leach's capability to do more with less is risky. You have to take more risks when you are the underdog. It'd be interesting to see him coach an Alabama level of talent. The dude will either keep his high risk style and lose an easy game and be a laughing stock; or he will reset NCAA records on route to his first championship. |

I'll be attending JMU @ NDSU tomorrow night.
Let's go, Bison. Send the purple puppies home with a loss as their final game in FCS. GO BISON!! |

Side thought after looking at Clemson replacing their OC/DC coordinators:
When Nick Saban has to replace a OC/DC he KNOWS that he is interviewing a person for a 2y gig. They will be GONE in 2y guaranteed. Cause one of two things will happen: --Saban picked the right person. That person kicks ass. Bama wins a championship and the OC/DC get a HC offer. --Saban picked the wrong person. They are still Bama, so they maybe just don't win a championship. Saban gives one more shot the following year, if the coordinator doesn't step it up them Saban will remove them. So no matter what happens, at the very beginning Saban knows that it's a 2y decision, so he's making his choices as such. |

He said in an interview that sometimes an assistant or coordinator wants to change terminology to what they’ve been used to and he always takes a giant, steaming shit on their idea. The players and other assistants are all used to a system and he refuses to make everyone learn one new staff members way of communicating. Players are generally going to spend three to four years in the system so it’s a good idea to keep everything as simple and consistent as possible. Two of the requirements to win championships-attention to detail and consistency. Dabo built Clemson into a very good program. He’s definitely got the background to do it again, but it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes after having to restructure and reload. |

The days of keeping 2 good to decent QBs on your roster are becoming more difficult. Going to be interesting watching who leaves next at A&M when Weigman, King and Johnson are competing for the starting job. Only thing that may keep them all there is if Johnson ends up #3 since he has coaching aspirations and may be ok in that role. Hopefully the plan is to redshirt Weigman next year now. |

FCS kids don’t get many chances to play on national TV. That’s why that kid that was the #1 national recruit made a mistake going to Jackson State. He had an offer list from Bama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn etc etc. He could have played against elite competition on TV every Saturday. His NFL stock won’t be near what it could have been. |
