Per the SPC in Norman, the tornado risk today is 5% of a tornado forming within 25 miles of any point within the designated area. That's pretty low as tornado conditions go.

https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day1probotlk_1300_torn.gif?1555518884661

That may rise slightly if their is sufficient daytime heating to break the cap and allow supercell formation...but the shear and vorticity don't appear to support tornado formation from today's storms.

I'm not surprised by this. I didn't expect there to be a significant chance. I only expected ridiculous rain and some potential for big hail.

We have a 66 Scout that sat outside for 20 years. I don't even know how many hail storms it's been through. Thing does not have a dent in it.

I'm expecting these cells to converge into a bow echo about dark and in the DFW area if any tornadoes do spin up along the line they shouldn't be any more intense than an EF-0.

East of DFW, they may see some more enhanced storms with the first round developing ahead of the DFW threat.

With how things are flowing right now I could see a bow echo. But, I agree, I don't expect to see anything stronger than winds, rain, and hail.

Was a great truck! Thankfully the scout only has rust on the tailgate. I need to get something on it to stop that. It's not out in the weather right now. Hasn't been for a few years now. I need to bring it home and start working on it.

This has been an interesting reminder of that day.  I was to start a new job in downtown the day after it hit, first day ended up being a stay home day.

I'm far more worried about the hail threat today than tornados. A lot of people are going to be on the road when this comes through, and if it's large hail, it could be very dangerous.

I'll be on my way to Dallas after work unfortunately.

These storms mostly certainly are doing to produce hail.

Hail is very hard to predict with any locality accuracy as well.  Cars are going to get dinged.

Per the Weather Channel, even the Chicago area is in the severe zone today. Torcon of 4.

I had to check because even the local NPR station was taking about the local authorities telling people to be aware of high winds and storms overnight.

A question for those with more knowledge. What is the correct Radar setting to see hail, is it Hydrometeor Classification?
What software are you using to monitor?
On my Android, I have Radar Alive Pro and PYKL3..
You might want to check and see if PYKL3 is still working.  I was woken up by a thunderstorm a week or two ago and it wasn't working for me.  I did some research and found this: http://pykl3radar.com/index.php

I was more than a bit pissed.

That sounds about right. I figured they were getting one hell of a deal that never has changed over the years.
Yup, getting 94 prices still.... most the original dudes are dead and it's their kids but they've pissed off all of us except my grandmother.  If they don't know this is coming then its gonna be even more pleasurable to have them receive their eviction
No surprise at all, sadly. Don't blame y'all for wanting to kick them off. I'm glad no one but really me hunts/shoots the mrs' parents land. Reminds me, I still need to talk to her uncle about his bazillion acres.

Thanks. That specific cell is not a danger but history indicates that other storms will form southeast of there and they are what gets us here.

WFAA is saying that storms will develop east of the Metroplex around 3:00.

5:00 pm to 7:00 pm storms will develop west of the Metroplex, 7:00 to 10:00 pm will hit the Metroplex, 10:00-1:00 am is the highest risk of large hail.

The cap has weakened.
