Yes, better than most.
Season 3 should be on later this year, but dates haven't been announced. |

I have really enjoyed it and looking forward to Amazon finally putting the second season on prime. View Quote As for is it good? Yeah it's the best sci-fi on TV right now, and the best since Firefly. (BSG would have gotten this except for the last season) |

I really enjoyed this. It's a film noir sci-fi horror series.
I think the only misstep was the casting for the Marine SNCO. The sullen, petulant, fatbody they cast was ridiculous. |

In March 2017, Syfy renewed The Expanse for a 13-episode third season to air in 2018. View Quote |

View Quote The Expanse is still a better series and is still in production, for now, anyways. |

Finished season 2 last night, they really leave you hanging.
I like it, I like the ships, I like the Epstein Engine and I like the way they did up the whole show. There's nothing too far out there and the show is mostly political with really cool spaceships and a portrayal of life in the future. |
|
It's awesome. Nice to have some actual "hard" sci-fi on TV with a minimum of "handwavium" technology...

Really top two favorite shows on currently. Game of thrones is even with it in my opinion, but im more science oriented when it comes to scifi. To much scifi these days has no science behind it.

Be prepared to identify with the Martians way more than the Earthers.

Hawk is a really cool guy. Worked with him very briefly last year.
I watched the first season haven't started the second. Liked it though. |

There will be 2 more seasons. It will end at 4.

"The third season will air later in the year than season two did. It is expected to be delayed to avoid competition with the 2018 Winter Olympic Games held in South Korea and concluding February 25th" |

View Quote Running a blockade shouldn't be this much fun! But it is. |

Does anyone know of a guide to read the book and watch the show at the same time?

My only complaint was I could never figure out the persona for the Alex Kamal's character. One minute he seems to be just a normal character and then the next minute he's a rootin' tootin' John Wayne character. It tended to be a little distracting. View Quote |

I bought the blurays after being on the fence about it and found it to be a great show.

I think the great thing about this show is how real it can really be. This isn't hundreds of years into the future like Star Trek with warp drives and teleporters, this is within humanity's reach.
Developing a drive that "only" goes 3% of the speed of light can get us to other planets in weeks and the edge of solar system in months. The biggest thing holding us back right now is the cost of sending men and material up into space, as soon as we can find a way to do it cheaper (SpaceX continues to improve the price) there's no holding back. |

The Mariner Valley in the books is settled first by a bunch of Texans, then by a wave of Indians and Chinese who pick up the accent. The music Alex listens to is supposedly a mix of country and indian pop music. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I like it.
The first season was a bit slow at first as they set the plot and characters. The second season is excellent. My son is an avid science fiction buff and gave me the second season in DVD. When the third season is close I'll re-watch Season 2 so I can be ready to continue the story. |

The premise was very good, except they soon apply the hollywood addiction formula to it. Same endless hooks, and resolveless spins that copies the psychology machine that all tv shows now follow. Like LOST, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones.... All plays to your emotions, and cliffhangers for more adrenalin and dopamine. Endless twists until the mass moves to the new hipper hook machine and the ratings slowly die off.

The books are very good (ignoring that the latest essentially stole its entire premise), but the show is rather meh. The episode "CQB" saved the show from cancellation, I'm reasonably sure. But the days of amazing sci-fi are gone, so one must take what there is to take.
