It's a state's issue, just like the SCOTUS said. Increasing control the federal government has over states is never a good thing.

Way too early to touch that topic. He should concentrate on jobs, economy, border security. He also needs to apologize for Warp Speed and admit he was duped. He should refrain from announcing foreign policy (support of Israel) and other military interests.

I used to be anti abortion until men could start becoming pregnant, now that I face the possibility of becoming pregnant I know know how it feels to be a women who has unprotected sex while she is ovulating. Therefore I changed my stance to being pro men's rights.

Quoted: Quoted: It's a state's issue, just like the SCOTUS said. Increasing control the federal government has over states is never a good thing. Agree let the states decided. Congress can try to ban it nationwide if they want. And a Supreme Court that is primarily made up of Trump loyalists will stretch the Commerce Clause to rule it constitutional. "Yes, but you see, you purchased the instruments used in the procedure from multiple states, therefore interstate commerce, therefore fuck you." |

Quoted: Making 2024 about abortion bans is a great way to make sure the Democrats win. View Quote Yup. Trump is his own worst enemy. In 2020 Biden didn't need to campaign because Trump was rallying his base on a daily basis. Everyday Trump was bashing the Democrats, threating to restrict things, and take away their rights. Imagine it flipped, let's say every day Biden came out saying he was going to ban going to church and ban all firearms. Trump could stay on the golf course and never campaign and he would still win. |

Remember when politicians were smart enough to get elected by not touching the "third rail"?????
You can think it. You can act on it, to an extent. YOU CANNOT FUCKING SAY IT or you'll have every animal with a pussy burning down the country. Women, goats, sheep, cows, whales, whatever. All lined up at the polls to vote against you. Whattadumbass. |

15 weeks is actually popular positioning but you also have to make exceptions for rape and medical emergency where the fetus will not be viable and there is high risk for the mother. Which shouldn't be an issue considering how rare those situations are.
What matters more than anything is how you sell a 15 week ban. If you call it that it will be used as a negative against you. If you frame it as federally protecting first trimester choice you can win with it. Words matter a fuck ton in these situations because the corporate media uses clips out of context and most people don't look past that. Trump is an idiot with language though so he'll probably fuck this up somehow. That said. It will be exciting to see all pro life trump cult members find ways to justify changing their mind on first trimester abortion . Lol |

It's decided by individual states.
(Does not matter what anyone else thinks) |

do NOT support abortion. It's evil.
however, those are my values, not everyone. I would be fine if abortion happened prior to the baby having nerves or feeling any pain. Or PlanB type things that cause the pregnancy not to take. However, as much as I hate abortion, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. Just say "SC has said this is a state issue, if you want it, push your state reps for options" This will just rile up the libs, and gains you basically nothing with the evangelicals. They still hate you cause you said a bad word once. I love Trump but damn dude, he keeps punching himself right in the dick. |

For a person smart enough to amass billions of dollars, he certainly lacks the ability to know when to avoid hitting hot button topics when running for office.
SCOTUS put it in state's hands, let it stay there at least until you're elected. |

This thread is a perfect example of why the right cannot win. We have no principals to stand on, we share no common values. There is no "right" anymore.
I share no values with the left, and thus want nothing to do with them politically. But I share very few common values, and less all the time, with the people of GD. In this thread we are pushing drugs, infanticide, and political compromise. Unprompted by the left. Because people are scared of the election. I don't care for Trump because I think he's too liberal, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of faith in him from even the true believers either. 'he said the no-no word!!!' |
|
To be honest, I think it's a smart play. It's not my play - I'm one of the few who will admit on line here I don't actually agree. But in his case, there is nothing and I mean NOTHING he can do to earn back a vote from the pro-abortion side. All of whome are already doing everything they can to fight him. Heck, they even supported a fraudelent impeachment on known-false charges; that's how passionate they are.
So fuck it, at this stage, double down to get the anti-abortion side to open up the check-books and work the volenteer booths. I think it's actually a smart play for him It'll increase the odds of him having a continued Democratic Senate; which sucks. But it will be a Democratic Senate, while he's the US President, which tempers the suck for him. I'll say this though, if you're running for House or Senate - I'd do everything I could to distance myself from that. Smart play for Donald Trump, are smart plays for Donald Trump - not you. Between this, and Oh NO losing his worthless value in buildings the banks actually own, that have declined in value by a percentage his real holding probably is, rather than having to write a check - AND getting the martyr card for it for the base (which he actually does earn), I'd say Trump is 4D chess-mastering pretty good right now. His next move is his VP choice; which I'm curious to see where he goes. I still think Tulsa would be the genius master play, but I'm guessing another posters suggestion that it will be TIm Scott, is probably the more likely. Tulsa's not really going to be allowed to be on the table for him; and worse - she might outshine him - and that's off the table. |

In the long run this is truth and it is the right thing to do. We will never prevail in the abortion argument by remaining silent. That I know. |

Quoted: yep this seems like the dumbest take possible it'll piss off everyone who cares about it on both sides View Quote Trump is fundamentally not very smart. But he makes for a very interesting study. If he is going to win another election, he needs to figure out how to win over the middle of America. In 2016, running against Hillary did that for him. In 2020 it didn't. In 2024 he seemingly still hasn't grasped this dynamic, and his psyche is so fucked that he still feels the need to pander to the base that will vote for him regardless, instead of showing some humility and commonality to try and win over the voters he actually needs. |

Good! This will shore up some votes he may have lost with the evangelical crowd by being himself…lol.
The pro abortion nut jobs were never voting for him in the first place and were likely to come out in full force anyway. |

Trump can’t win anyway so what does it matter?
Only in GD does anyone think Trump is winning this election. |

Quoted: Yes it does. There is no authority in the constitution to regulate abortion. SCOTUS is wrong, and they are protecting the centralising authority set by prescient for Congress to craft 'national' law. They are wrong. This is not a delegated authority outlined under Article 1, Section 10. State matter. God, please let people relearn federalism. View Quote we do have federal murder laws though their scope is pretty narrowly defined. It's difficult to think of abortions which would fall under the same sort of circumstances. Either way the practice should be abolished. It is abhorrent. |

Morally I am against abortion but from a practical point of view I would take into consideration who is getting the abortions and if that would be a net benefit for society.
Voted Pie. After all isn't pie the starting point of all abortions? |
