Considering the entire state’s population (~8.5 million), anything close to that would be unbelievable.

That was very brave what you did.  I was going to go there myself but alas my youngest is home sick.  You’ve met the enemy and stared them in the eye.  Her and people like her are the definition of sociopaths.  We will stop them.

Keep the fight and I’ll see you and the thousands of others on January 20.
Thanks brother, appreciate the sentiments.  No worries - this is a team thing, us vs. them,  and I was able to make it there today. Same as everyone else who has contributed what they could at different times in different places.

Gotta watch out for the little ones and keep them healthy - that’s what this is all about.

And yes, staring them in the eye was... unnerving?

Damn right we’re gonna stop them!

Look forward to seeing you and everybody else on the 20th!
You are a patriot, and I am honored to stand with you. Thank you.
@longhunter09

Thank you sir, and very much likewise!

I could not find myself in better company.

To Patriots! To Virginia! To Victory!

I'll say it again for the people in the back:

Your logical arguments, letters, calls, and emails mean nothing. Why? Bloomberg and friends gave these people millions of dollars, you are a rando who probably won't ever vote for them.
In Maryland in 2013 we flooded the state house with so many letters they needed hand trucks to move them around. It did not change a single vote.

What you guys need to do is influence your legislators in ways they actually care about. For most that's money and power. Can you influence their biggest donors? Affect their standing in affluent social circles? Encourage political rivals? Get creative guys, writing letters is pointless at this point.

LexConcord--

Is there a chance--any chance--that what she was admitted to you in your conversation (albeit form a position of great, royal condescension) was that the bills which have been "pre-filed" are all horseshit, just smoke and mirrors, sound and fury signifying nothing designed to rally the Democrat base, and that the legislature actually has NO intention of moving forward with the proposals put forward--and may dial it back to some face-saving "background check for all transfers" public safety PR stunt?

She said:  Nobody is going to outlaw your guns. Nobody is going to go door to door and collect them. There is no need to dig a hole and bury your guns in the back yard (yes, she really said that). This is all being exacerbated by the Gun Lobby and the NRA. There really is nothing to worry about – you’ll be able to keep your guns."

How in the world could she possibly believe that--unless she knew the "pre-filed bills" were all political theatre for the base?

Curious as to your response.
You serious Clark?

She's so used to saying it to appease people while she's violating their rights it just rolls off her tongue. If you think they wouldn't gladly go door-to-door if they could, you're a fool.

Eta: sure they'll let you keep your guns. You just have to be licensed, carry millions of dollars in liability insurance, be cleared by mental professionals, register your AR receiver that's modified for two shots with a non-semiauto action, no pistol grip with your ammunition you have to pass a background check and pay a 5000% tax on, and keep it locked up at the gun club.

But hey, you got to keep your guns.
Name one state the dems have been in full control of, since 2012,that does not have an Awb. Is there one? I don't think there is.
Illinois has had Democratic legislatures and governors simultaneously at several points since then, so have Rhode Island, Delaware, Washington, Minnesota, Oregon, Nevada, and New Mexico.  Iowa did from 2007 to 2011.  None of these states currently has an AWB.  I can't promise I'm not forgetting any, but that should be close.

That doesn't count the NG people that fix bayonets and about face.

And now it is FOUR TIMES the last estimate?

Fuck taking the car to VA and getting on a bus. I'll just get dropped off at the PA turnpike and sling my rifle and hold up a sign that says 'Richmond'. I'll have a ride in 5 minutes.

Part III

Some final thoughts and observations:

Throughout my career, negotiation has been a large part of it.  I’ve done many. Some were successful, some were not.  Some were quite significant, others minor.

Over time, through repetition and trial and error, you develop an ability to sense the other party’s reception to your pitch.  It’s hard to describe for those who haven’t experienced it - it's not a tangible or teachable thing, but the combination of body language, eye and facial expression, how they sit, how they hold their hands, their tone, lots of stuff – all of these things can and will betray the words that come out of their mouth.

That said, I can tell you, with 100%, absolute certainty:

She did not want to hear one word out of my mouth.  Only out of decorum and the public nature of the meeting, did she tolerate my presence and allow herself to hear my opinion.

I sensed true and legitimate contempt towards me on her part.

The finality of the conversation dripped with condescension.

There is a very real smugness, arrogance and air of superiority that just oozes from these people.

This was the very first time I've ever done anything like this. This is the first time I've ever petitioned a politician face to face.  I didnt know what to expect.

One thing is for sure, and I don't know how to quite put this - she (and the rest of these politicians, I assume) is/ are just a different species of human being.  I've sat across from very high ranking C-level folks (and even told them things they don't want to hear, we weren't on the best of terms, etc.), and I never got that feeling.

Can't quite put my finger on what it was, but she just seemed, different.  There was no human connection, no empathy, no emotion whatsoever.  Only contempt. A hidden, seething, something.  It was quite strange really - disconcerting and very off putting.  I felt like I was dealing with a robot or an alien or something, not another living, breathing person.  There just was no... connection.

I’ll tell you this, now that I have sat in front of arguably, one of the most powerful people in the VA Legislature -There is no swaying them and they will not stop pushing this legislation.

To simply ignore the factual points I made regarding 2A sanctuaries, the percentage of VA they constituted, people taking up arms, the dire warnings, etc. and to come back with “90% of VA wants this”, “It’s the NRA/ Gun Lobby stoking fear”, “Nobody will outlaw or take your guns”.  I mean, seriously?  I just had a decidedly cogent, articulate and polished interaction with you (I won’t call it a conversation), and you're treating me like an idiot and pretending not to have heard my (valid) points?

I feel my experience today would have been similar to sitting across from Pelosi during the Obama Care passage.

I’m still going on Lobby Day, in fact, I am more eager now, than ever.

However, I think the tone will be different.

We all need to stay the course and continue to fight.

Even if they pass these abortions of bills in January, they can be pulled back prior to enactment in July.

We need EVERYONE in Richmond on 1/20.  Let them see the folly of their ways.

Like I've been saying I can see them calling a special session as soon as GA open on the 8th and ramming all of these through. They don't give a fuck about the sanctuaries or our words. The left thinks the military exists to do their bidding for the things they're too spineless to actually do themselves. If they haven't passed and signed these laws by the 20th I'll be genuinely shocked.

I think Lobby Day is going to take on a much different identity before the day gets here.

Disclaimer: I am not telling you guys in Virginia what to do.

Having said that, you need to know right now the incoming Dems have no interest whatsoever in listening to your pleas. The previous posters here prove that. They want your enumerated right to bear arms.

You can continue to plea, but we all know where that will get you if that's the extent of your effort.

Godspeed, Virginia. Steady....
also, that exchange makes it quite clear the incoming Speaker is going to push that gun legislation through no matter what.  I expect her to lean HARD on wobbly rural Democrat delegates, with both carrot and stick.

This legislation will most likely pass.  Prepare accordingly.
I think it really does depend on us. If we rattle her cage both at home for the next 3 weeks, then in Richmond on 1/20, then it will shake her confidence enough to be squishy. We really need folks willing to do the leg work and put signs with their pictures on it around their AO. I don't know if I'll be able to do that for my two cretins (one of which is Luise Lucas who sponsored SB64) before I have to go off to a conference this Saturday for a week.

This is exactly correct.  They aren't going to back down and WILL try to enforce their new laws.  The choice will be submit or not submit.  Hiding the guns, might work for a while.  But if you are hiding them and not using them, you might as well not have them at all.

This is how you wind up with the situation where Californians have largely just ignored the laws written.

After the elected self declared civilized cunts, that consider themselves to be aristrocracy, blatantly demonstrate they will not listen to those who they feel are beneath them.

They love the flavor of their own particular brand of farts and how dare you not agree with them.

As soon as you identify your opinion in opposition to them they dismiss you.

Fat chance of your opinion making the evening news or being published in any way as to represent the facts or truth that there is opposition.

This is how the switch eventually gets flipped.

Yeah, the Rattlesnake Rally is happening one way or the other. As to whether it's 20k, 50k, or 120k, I don't think anybody really has a good handle on it. What I will say is that I hope there are sufficient food/water trucks and portajohns to handle whatever size crowd we get, otherwise it's going to be very, very uncomfortable. That, and at the 100k level, a large majority of people won't get to see their legislators nor even hear the speakers at the event. But, they can make themselves a T-shirt that says they survived the Rattlesnake Rally of 2020.

It's important that we have a very large number of armed and well-armed people there. The size of our "forces" has to be credible. It has to show that we have more than enough people, equipment, and resolve to thwart what they propose, by force if necessary. It will be the first time in a long time that people exercise their 2nd Amendment rights in such a large, public, and dramatic manner.

As they say in Texas:
General George Hammond's wierd yeehaw

There really is nothing to worry about  you'll be able to keep your guns."

I'm just trying to get my head around her cognitive dissonance.

Your answer is that she is A) stupid and B) a liar.  That may well be the case--but I find her smug assurances to LexConcord a bit curious, and wanted to explore possible explanations.
She's an autocrat and was merely giving flippant answers while hoping that you were stupid enough to believe them.  They said similar things to the Jews.

What good is having it, if you can't practice with it?

...and look at WalMart.  They've effectively cut-off a major source of ammunition to citizenry.  What happens when the rest of the country gets CA ammo laws?

No.  VA has to stop this.  CA went the "non-compliance" route, and it did nothing except cause a bunch of us to go into hiding, not allowing us to practice with our arms, making gun owners personas non grata.

I concur.  Non compliance is simply waiting your turn to go to jail. You have to make an active statement; that the law of the land, nature, and god, the right of self defense, is not going to be taken away just because a slim majority of politicians in state tell you they are gone.

To quote the great Rosa Parks, "Fuck You, I Won't Do What You Tell Me."

That’s a very succinct way to describe what actually occurred.

After stating my (our) case, her response consisted of verbal diarrhea, the content of such completely ignored my previous, well founded points - I then called her on it, point for point.  At which point she decided that she’d heard enough and completely and utterly dismissed me.

I guess she’s used to dealing with a certain level of intellect and cognitive ability and/or complete lemmings.

What part of blatant mass non compliance says to you "what good is having it if you can't practice with it"? I'm not talking some crap like don't turn it in. I'm talking screw the NFA you want to make me a criminal over night for nothing. Okay, do that! And watch me ignore all gun laws and out of spite make NFA crap and practice openly with it. That kind of non-compliance but on a large scale.

The point of all of this.  Be it Lobby Day, NRA Day, or people protesting in front of congress member's homes is simply to tell them that they now have skin in the game.

Hell.. You want to start fucking with them early... everyone start mailing scopes to the statehouse, with a little note that says "we see what you are doing".

Therein lies the power of the 2A movement in VA.
