i hate that powder-puff blue - it's the most popular of the new colors it seems, because i see trucks and cars all over painted with that dull blue

Yep, looks like flat primer with a clear coat over it. I for one don't like the look. It will probably go out of style real fast and nobody will want them. Remember Teal colored cars? Can't give them away.

We buy strictly new white vehicles now. Just took the FX bed stickers off my new white ranger. Gonna get a How's my Driving dial 1 800 3287448 (EAT SHIT) sticker for the tailgate so others think it's a county utility truck.

It got it’s start as a humble brag/flex with exotic imports. ie:  “I’m Soooo fuckin’ rich, Ima drive this heah car which cost more than yo house, an I’m gonna do it sportin’ Primer, so I can blend in with the poors..... Tastefully understated.

Now, we see it on Hyundais, so it’s come full circle: Poor people pretending to be rich people pretending to be poor people.

It’s the Ripped-Bleached Jeans of the automotive world.
The dumbest trend since “murdered out” or “Forced Patina”.  It’s gonna age poorly.

Looks OK on some Jeep/Tacomas though.

What's old is new again.

Until the early 1960s flat colors were very common.

Fun fact...

Metallic colors didn't start until the late 20s and were only available on high end cars. Some of the earliest metallic paints used fish scales.

Don't ask how I remember that. I'm full of useless knowledge.

First started in the late 20s on high end cars.

Regular cars started using it in the mid 40s.
