My SS statement tells the tale. 93 graduated highschool. Fucked around until joining Navy in 1998. Left Navy 2007.

I don't mind sharing, especially since there are the usual naysayers in the thread.

@JustinU235 you and I are both class of '93.  You are not an older Millennial, you are on the younger side of GenX.  You undoubtedly watched The Breakfast Club and other John Hughes movies, which is a defining characteristic of our generation!

Yep.

Maxing my Roth 401k +5% match from the company. Bonus looks like 13-16k depending on end of year profit final numbers.

Any salary increase should only help me max my Roth IRA faster/ more savings at this point.

Feel pretty good as a young millennial.

I broke $150k two pay checks ago.

$105k base pay
Plus 10% special assignment pay
Plus the company puts 11.25% of gross into 401k
Plus overtime
Plus whatever bonus we get at the end of the year. Last year it was around $8k...this year it probably won't be as good
I also maxed out my part of 401k two pay checks ago

I'm just a very early millennial electrician

I spent a few months without a living room floor, then a few months without a dining room floor followed by a few months without a kitchen floor.

Our poor old place needed some major repairs.

It was nice when we finally got airconditioning at night. Texas is hot without it!

Thankfully we never truly had dirt floors.

My wife still walks on her tiptoes when barefoot.

She grew up in a home that had plywood floors.

That’s why I do what I do to make sure she never experiences that again.

So 20% of US household incomes are greater than 150K, yet nearly half of Arfcom has individual incomes greater than 150K.....it's possible, and good on us if so.

In high school, I hoped one day that I would make 100k.

Now, my wife and I pay that much a year in student loans if you factor in pre-tax dollars. Nuts.

As of August yes. Four months to go.
$135,000 base
Yearly bonus $15,000
Quarterly performance eval, $6,000 every four months.
Pick up extra shifts from others on vacation…priceless!

How long until the loans are gone?

Yep, been just shy of it these past few years but I’ll break it this year counting the big bonus. Not so sure how next year will look depending on how the new management decides what is “competitive compensation for my position”

@newglockster

Get a CDL, find a crane company that does heavy haul and work your butt off. I drive big trucks, run specialty trailers (including the self propelled pictured) plus I have my Crane NCCCO certs. My 20 years experience as a Navy Seabee wrench bender also helped open some doors.

Fifteen years ago I started at this company with a base pay of $32k. Now my base pay is roughly four times that.

Keep pushing seeking pay and advancement, if you can't get it where you are now, look into a new career path or a different company.

Developing real estate. People like to store their worthless shit so we help them store their useless shit. Others like to store valuable depreciating assets so we help them store those also.

For all the Downtrodden doubters: Here ya Go;

The Standard household achieves millionaire status.

Eta, holy Fuck, I am far below my peers.   All those assholes who bought heavily in Faang stocks and BC.

The mean is substantially higher than the median because it is boosted by the top 10% of earners, who have a net worth, on average, of $6.63 million, according to the Fed. Meanwhile, households in the bottom 10% had a mean net worth of $5,300 in 2022.

From the article

Bottom 10% - $5300
Top 10% - $6.6million
Median - 192k

So "average American" being a millionaire is a far stretch from  "typical American"
