Only 1 photo and it's a common one found on google. Either this seller is like the EE fudds selling $1000s of stuff without pics, or a scammer.

Red flag "rentals?"

I'm guessing the US hired the owner to play the adversary in exercises.  Wonder if/why that revenue stream dried up?

Does anyone else think it would be a scream to go buzz around the legal limits of the local air guard base with one of these?  Or just show up at that big red flag fighter jet exercise and see if anyone notices?  It wouldn’t be any fun if you weren’t ruffling feathers.

That and would it be legal to have dummy missiles installed on the pylons?

DOC is higher than that for sure, a lot higher.

Years ago we (company) bought a crated Gazelle, it was a ton of fun and one of the fastest and most maneuverable helicopters I have ever flown but my god it was a headache.

Well the only real combat they saw was outnumbered 100:1 vs the USAF in Desert storm and the balkans. So yeah rather obviously they died.

More interestingly the Ex E german ones fought in excercises vs vipers and f18s and did quite well.

Yup, as "crude" as it reputedly was their HMCS was highly effective WVR. So relevant in the 80s, but once vipers and hornets got aamrams, well game over.

East Germany was a scary Warsaw Pact opponent if shit ever turned sideways back then, methinks. I'm talking ground forces as well. It has also been said that East Germany was probably USSR's most loyal ally.

Mig 29s weren't as they were fairly new at the time.  But Mig 21s could be found for that.

Waaayyyyy more. A Bell Jet Ranger helicopter is around $1500 and that involves easy to find parts for your maintenance program and nowhere near the fuel burn. On top of that, you would essentially need full time maintainers just like the Russian airforce had.

I bet it would be $10k an hour or damn close to it.

$10k is a pretty good guess. That's what NASA used to pay per flight hour for their leased F-104 time back in the late 90's. That was an all in number back then including paying the pilot, some markup for overhead, and some profit.

Thinking about it, if I had MIG-29 money, I'd waste it to force a Form 1 DD surface to air missile on the ATF.

Actually building one with some discrimination as to most jamming sources is possible with UV sensing and an excess of the shelf processing power.

The pain is having to sue them to force it, and possibly failing.

Bruh, if you have MiG-29 money.... you pay other people to sue them for you and possibly fail. Either way, you don't give a fuck because you're going to fly at lunch and go get that $12,000 hamburger.

You need a lot of educating about fighter jet operating costs.  It cost over $5k/hr to operate a Phantom 30 years ago.  Today an F-18E/F, the most similar US fighter to a Mig-29 costs over $11k/hr to operate and projected costs go up to $32k/hr.
