The top one there is a 2012 Sebenza.

The other two are Inkosis which I think started in late 2015.

Both the Inkosis have what I believe is called a bead blast finish on the handles.  I think this is how all the CRKs come now, other than the Mnandis.  Gives a little bit of texture/grip.  Not bad. Shows marks fairly easily.

The older Sebenza though has more of a smooth finish. Perhaps stonewashed?  Doesn't seem to show any marks. Finish looks consistent inside and out on the Sebbie.  I like it better.

So, was the smooth finish on the Sebbie handles standard or an option at some point in the past? Stonewashed (kinda what it looks like)? Polished handles (which I know they offer now on some special editions) that have just worn really well and not picked up scratches? Or is it just plain Ti and they get like that from years of use? The box the Sebbie came in doesn't give any more than the basic info, perhaps suggesting it was the plain Jane model at the time.

Any insight from long time owners or enthusiasts?

I'm tempted to find some pebbles and a coffee can and try my hand at stonewashing the Inkosi handles myself...

I'm no expert, but I believe they only had one scale finish outside of the limited runs of custom stuff. I think it all comes down to who was running the bead blaster that day and their experience. Mine from last year has the more rough texture but it has smoothed out considerably though it does show a bunch of scratches. Maybe it was carried a lot by a careful user and has smoothed out.

Yeah, that too.

The clip on mine is all kinds of FUBAR'd from work and I need to try and even it out, but I'm hesitant to take any kind of abrasive to it.

Not quite as smooth as that yet, but you can see that the finish is quite a bit smoother in the middle where my thumb rises when handling it. You can still see some of the “grain” on the lanyard end of the scales.

So I reread your post. When I get home I'll check it out with mine and my son's Sebenza vs the Inkosi.

When they're new or back from spa treatment they have a texture to them that kinda smooths out a little
