The orange/yellow label compares to a mild del taco or Taco Bell sauce. Essentially no heat, just a sauce with slight bite. I like the black label Valentina for elotes and mixing in with soups. A Mexican friend of mine drinks Victoria beer and dumps 2 or 3 tablespoons of black Valentina in it. Nasty, but he likes it.

That's why KFB1 uses it. They sold it for $0.68 for years apparently up by his cabin, but when he went to buy some for me, he said they had jumped the price up to $1.29. He was not happy.

Bought a buck for the first time today.

Buck 119 special.

Got it for a friend as a house warming gift, she briefly mentioned she wanted one a few weeks back but followed up with "not gonna be able to afford one now that I got the house"

Also, if she can't afford a knife at that price point, she spent too much on the house.

House wasn't too badly priced for what it is.

Turns out it needs a new AC and septic tank though

I dont care.

If she can’t afford a $70 knife, she overspent.

It’s not uncommon. Realtors are horrible. They “help” you figure out how much you can “afford” which is invariably more than you should afford.

Or people get it set in their mind they need xyz, instead of looking at it as what can I get by with.

Americans spend too much on housing generally which has turned the market and lenders into a monster and we are all paying for it. Fannie, Freddie, 50 year loans, insane home prices, it’s all fuct and we are doing it to ourselves.

We are literally our own worst enemies.

By Realtors, you mean Lenders and the rest I completely agree with. Debt to income ratio mean absolutely fucking nothing. 2 75k car payments, a 45k boat and 25k in cc debt? No problem, but fuck, let's get you into a 1st and a 2nd so you can purchase a home in a neighborhood that you have no business driving through.

Gents,

Still hanging in.  Actually feeling better lately, knock on wood.  Going to have a cardio catheterization in the next couple of weeks which is as bad as it sounds.  Lol.  After that I'll be preparing to go back to work, finally, in December.

Anyway, still waiting for a couple of knives to be finished for me.  While doing that, I have been working to repair my short term memory which unfortunately was another casualty of my illness.  I also have a tough time thinking quickly.  I know what I want to say but can't quite get it out for a bit.  Very frustrating.

So as I have a lot of time to work on these things, they suggested some things to get my thought process going, one of which was building Legos.  I LOVE Legos.  Always have.  Knew their counsel here in CT for a bit.  Her husband worked with me and every Christmas he would bring garbage bags of assorted Legos for everyone.  Thousands and thousands of pieces.   Way cool.

I have a bunch of kits of various sizes.  I'm almost done with this small Harry Potter kit.  Next is a very small police kit then a huge Ferrari 488 Pista race car which will be awesome.   I know I'm getting Old Trafford stadium, home of Manchester United for Christmas so I'll be good for awhile.  Hopefully these damn knives will show up soon.  Hope everyone is well.

Glad to hear you're doing better.

Awesome legos - must be nice to have easy access as I've heard the kits go collectible almost instantly these days.

We did a difficult 1000 piece puzzle over Covid for the first time in forever and both enjoyed it quite a bit. Well, my wife started off pretty frustrated but eventually got addicted....

So we got one for her dad - same difficulty, size, manufacturer. In spite of it being a gift, he gave her grief about it - too big, pieces too small, pieces all looked the same, etc.. For the record, one of the main reasons I chose it, along with being made in the USA and not a flimsy dusty nasty POS, was that it did have unique individual shapes (a lot these days are so cheap every piece has two knobs and two notches always on the same sides. Anyways we thought it was a write off but then he got into it after a couple weeks and knocked it out in the next couple. We gave him ours last time we visited and he knocked that out right away too.

Buffalo Games is a good brand if you have any interest - this is the one we did:

Kind of a shit picture but I liked the contrast.

We grabbed Mexican food last night before our Halloween movie marathon. They had these red onions pickled with Habaneros and spices that were off the charts.

First thing this morning I woke up and put them on breakfast to ensure they don't get eaten before I could get to them

In addition to the Hogue that was posted, you might look at the Appalachian. The G10 is rough for grip, but can be smoothed out or you can get custom micarta replacements for not too much. Seems to fit your lifestyle and I like mine. It has excellent ergos.

https://emersonknives.com/shop/knives/all-knives/appalachian/appalachian/

(with custom double black micarta scales)

Or the venerable ZT 0562 - the CF one has better steel too. I helped process a deer with mine, worked great.

Both are fairly sizable.
