Briar has very good heat resistance, but you still need to smoke slow and take the time to build up an ashcake in the inside of a pipe to insulate the wood from the flame or ember. Some makers have their own coatings they put in the chamber of new pipes, but if you take your time, the end results will be the same as uncoated. |

Went all cheese tonight. Mozz, parm, and some sharp cheddar. Lil' crispier on the bottom than the last, but never really browned on the top like I would've preferred.

When I went out that way it was hella sketchy. The eastern side of Venezuela is sketchy as fuck and extremely rural. I was with a girl who was an Olympian for the velodrome racing, not exactly sure how to say that in English, but we were in a taxi at like 3am going from one city to another and we got stopped in no mans land by the Venezuela secret police. Not fun and definitely not cool - probably only came away ok because she had Olympic credentials on her. Mount roraima is in the middle of fucking nowhere in Venezuela and too close to the Guyanese who are... weird. It's also just as close to the state of roraima which is the middle of fucking nowhere. Manaus is the middle of fucking nowhere from the perspective of Brazil and roraima is way the fuck past that. It's the setting for the Disney movie, UP. |

I replaced the Protech Burnley Compact my wife bought me (and I foolishly lost while mowing the grass at our land) by snagging a full size that was on sale from BladeHQ for $115.
Original.  “New”  Except, is it NEW?  That nick in the finish was there when I opened the package. I sent them a message and then checked their online inventory… Blade HQ is now sold out of both the compact polished aluminum and the full sized, so they can’t even replace it straight up. Couple of questions. A. Am I crazy for letting this bother me B. If they cannot replace it without a long wait, am I expecting too much to ask for something else in return such as a gift card or discount on another knife? Thanks @me back |
