At 17 I almost wonder if it's too late. I imagine most humans are done growing at that point. I'm almost 6-03 and sometimes wish I was a little shorter. I wouldn't worry about it. Barring some sort of medical issue, he may just be short. Neither of you are very tall, so it makes sense.

If you are looking for a serious answer-
Go see your pediatrician and get a referral to a hormonal specialist. There are growth hormones that they give to kids that are on the small side. It's generally for twins and similar. They do work and work well, but have to be carefully monitored and the dosages are specific. You have a VERY limited time window to do this as it won't work after they are done growing. |

At 17, it's likely too late to have a huge impact.
I'd suggest milk and lots of it. Studies show it adds a couple inches to overall height (when given to children). Supplementing with arginine has also been associated with increased growth velocity - it stimulates the release of more HGH. But, as mentioned, at 17 the window is almost closed for outside influences having an effect. |

If it bothers him later, he can get taller for a price . Essentially the same answer as if you were asking how to get your daughter to grow bigger breasts...they can pay for that as an adult if nature doesn't provide.
Or, just enjoy manlet status, I'm in upper end of yellow on the chart and I hit my head on a lot of shit. Down the road, if I go bald and shave my head, it probably will look bumpier and more scared than a secondary street in Detroit.  |

At 17 he is pretty much done, possibly a couple of inches more before full height.
The genetics ae the biggest factor with lots of sunshine and milk (calcium) as he is growing up. Did he spend a lot of time outside growing up? |

I was 6'-3" in high school and into my 30s but started to shrink some and mid 40s I'm only 6'-2" now. Doc said discs in vertebrae flatten out or something. He doesn't think I'll lose much more if any. I've often wondered if an inversion table would be worth it.

Might turn out that you missed the boat on the supplementation, but at least you will know what to reasonably expect going forward. I had no idea such things were possible. Thanks for posting. |
