I was a 1-6 shooter for years and liked them.

But always use at 6x unless shooting close. So then 1x.
Can't use nv well with that.

Prism at 5x and red dot and you can do everything lighter and fast.

I can’t think of a single thing about the VCOG that’s better.  It’s significantly heavier and larger, has a worse reticle selection and illumination.  What’s to like in that comparison?

I’m looking for a 1-6x with the following specs:

FFP
mil/mil
capped turrets
illuminated reticle
30mm tube

I would normally order a 1-6x HD from SWFA but it looks like they discontinued that model.

I found this one on EuroOptic but I’ve never heard of this company:

https://www.eurooptic.com/SAI-Optics-SAI-6-1-6x24mm-1-MRAD-FFP-MIL-Rapid-Aiming-Feature-Riflescope-RNG16-B.aspx

This will be going on a 16” Recce, I’m not opposed to a 1-8x but would prefer a 1-6x with the above features since the eyebox is more forgiving.

This.   I don’t see any reason for FFP on any of my 1-6 LPVOs.

If I’m shooting far enough actually worry using a reticle to compensate for bullet drop, that scope will be set at 6X.

OP, look at a Vortex Viper HS 1-6.  It comes in mil/mil.

FFP 1-6 seems silly.

How far away could something be to need accurate reticle subtensions at low/intermediate 1X-6x powers settings?

Heck… does anyone even USE powers 2-5?  I know I’ve only ever just went from 1 all the way to 6… 2x-5x might as well not even exist or just as well show images of large veiny phalluses for all I care.

FFP in a 1-6 is a waste of technology.  Anything within 250 yards doesn't need elevation adjustment, and anything that far away gets full zoom anyway.  Close up the reticle is almost worthless.  Too much additional expense for little to no gain, or in my experience, it's detrimental.

For targets 50-150Y out, 2-4X is really nice since you don't lose the FOV and still have a little extra magnification.  100Y plate rack or MGM spinner is relatively common at major matches.

The 1-6x Razor is awesome. People bitching have unrealistic expectations. LVPOs are not red dots but offer similar functionality, albeit with a tighter eye box and head position. They magnification is super functional once you get past 200 yards. I don't get the consternation.

And I agree that FFP on a 1-6 is stupid.

Arken EP 8?

Can be had for $299 with a code.

Heard two different stories about it being daylight bright. Also heard the dot is too small when at 1x.

I’m considering it as well as the new Primary Arms Nova with fiber reticle.

Sure, but to the point of FFP mentioned in the OP… if your zero distance or caliber isn’t silly, anything inside of ~200yd should be point and click anyways… a good 5.56/6/6.5/.30 load out of a decent barrel length zeroed at 200 has a max rise of probably 2”, give or take.

In practical use, FFP only adds needless complexity/weight/cost in a 1-6 because something you’d be using 1-5x for with a typical caliber is probably close enough that holdovers aren’t critical... It’s not like a 3-18x or 5-25x where you might be looking at something 600-800yds away using a middling 12x and ballistic drop is a few feet so you need that calibrated reticle.

Wait a minute!  Arfcom taught me FFP and Mil/Mil for all scopes.

Glad I have an extra SWFA FFP Mil/Mil 1-6x24.  They are nice.

However, I do have a 2X GLX Primary Arms on .40 AR pistol
Also a 2.5X Primary Arms on a 6.8 SPC
My 450 Bushy carbine has a Primary Arms SLX 3X.
All the fixed prisms are BDC.

I no longer own any SFP variable scopes.

BTW:  Vortex and Primary Arms are made in some of the same factories.

I know you stated FFP, but the Mil/Mil 1-6x Razor is a pretty awesome optic.  If it's far enough that you need the reticle, you'll probably be at 6x anyway.  I have tried a lot of different scopes, but always come back to a Razor.

Thanks. I only use straight up red dots on my ARs, and scopes on my longer range bolt rifles. I haven't used an LPVO and I think it is a good optic to get my feet wet with. I shoot out to about 300, generally with ARs and a standard dot. My eyes are getting tired and I think a little magnification would help, while being able to keep the 0 zoom for quick shooting and drills that I mostly do @100 and in.

I had a GEN 2 razor and sold it because it wasn't FFP.  I now have a PA GLX 1-6 with the griffin reticle.

I've had a cheap sight mark 1.5-5 FFP mildot on my .22 for 15yrs.

FFP in LPVO has its place.  It's all about the reticle.  The PA GLX reticle works pretty good at all powers.
