The 10/22 accelerator stock, they classified the spring as a MG.

Nobody made this an issue.

I guess they can classify anything they want if it changes the rate of fire vs mechanical function as a MG.

1.  Bumpstocks do not make a gun a machine gun.

2.  The legal definition they seem to be trying to change to make bumpstocks fall into a category isn’t even the proper way these things function.  Their shit is all fucked up in the terminology and you have people falling over themselves to line up for this crap because it’s “not their sacrificial lamb” being slaughtered this time.  Hope hunting rifle scopes are next....”nobody needs to shoot over 500 yards to kill a deeeeah!”.  Military grade optics have no place in a civil society!

I don’t think I was into firearms like I am now with the 10/22 stock thing.  As long as it didn’t assist in resetting anything with the trigger it should be fine.

We shouldn’t even be having this conversation as we should all be owning three position safety selector firearms.   When Trump does this, he is driving a

wooden stake into his own heart with me.  I voted Cruz, but fully got on the train.  I hope I’m not going to be asking for a fucking refund.  “Hillary would

have been worse”?  Yup, but at least my enemy has the balls to tell me he/she plans on fucking me instead of patting me on the back while it gets shoved

up my ass.  I’d rather have a known enemy at this point than some wish washy piece of shit.  If the “Grand Experiment” is indeed over, we need to move

onto the next phase I figure.

Trump had better come out with a statement that even though he's banning bump stocks he still supports the right to keep semi-auto weapons.  Bump stocks may not appeal to most people but the black rifle IS America's rifle and he'd better be thinking of all those AR owners staying home on election night in 2020.

Trump has actually been relatively evenhanded in doling out cash to the two parties, but since 1989, he's contributed over $350,000 more to Republicans running for federal and state offices, campaign finance records show.

Data from the Federal Election Commission and state elections offices provided by the two websites show that Trump has given $584,850 to Democrats and $961,140 to the GOP over the last 26 years.

The difference in donations is almost entirely captured in Trump's recent giving. Since 2012, Trump has donated $463,450 to Republicans and just $3,500 to Democrats (California Attorney General Kamala Harris and New York Assemblyman Michael Benedetto).

Who is going to hold a rally in support of bump stocks? The NRA has an effective monopoly on the gun rights movement and they demanded that Trump ban bump stocks via executive order. Even if they were against this, what infrastructure is there set up to arrange a pro-2A rally? They're not an activist organization they're some lobbying and educational org. No one shows up to pro-2A rallies because all of them currently have to be organized ad hoc via facebook or email lists something. It does no good to blame random gun owners (who may or may not be news junkies) for not showing up.

Even then you have to have some kind of realistic political goal and not just rant because it feels good. A great example are all the "conservative" arfcommers that spent months trying to get everyone to send a message to the Florida GOP. Flipping Nelson's seat would be a huge victory and would make supreme court nominations much easier, and the next FL governor is going to appoint like four state supreme court justices but people here decided to spend 50+ pages of arguing that the Democrats winning wouldn't be a big deal.

Why go to rallies if you are just going to vote for the bastards you would be protesting against?

Your big win in the senate was the exact fucking reason why trump waited until after the election to finalize his edict.
If Scott had lost we wouldn’t be talking about this now. Instead the message sent is that he and other republicans can pass whatever new gun laws they feel like without any consequences because gun owners will vote for them no matter what.

Obama never did anything about bump stocks because I guarantee he never knew they existed. However, his Justice  Department simply followed their own rules and determined that Slide Fire and Bump Fire had  products acceptable to be sold based upon the legality of  a single pull of the trigger.

Trump decided bump stocks needed to go and told his Justice Department to make it so.

NeoConDon is an empty suit with no morals or values of his own. Congratulations, you voted for a man who has to be told what to do, say, and what his beliefs should be. Fuck him

Yeah, I fucking did. You're damn right. Because the alternative was Hillary Clinton. And stupid bumpstock bullshit aside, he's been infinitely better for the country than Hillary would have been, so I don't regret it for a fucking second.

Or "I shall not comply"

Or "not one more inch"

Damn Fudds.

So I lived with trepidation through 8 years of Obama waiting for gun control that never happened.  Now the guy I voted for out-and-out bans a gun accessory with NO grandfathering, NO compensation, and not even a requirement to register it with the NFA if you want to keep it.

Not that I own a bump stock, but what's next?

Trump is a known supporter of eminent domain.  Get ready to have an interstate running through your ass.

Well for one thing I wouldn’t be risking a felony and several years in prison for a piece of plastic.
Tell me, a decade or so from now (when I hopefully get out) what will be left of trumps accomplishments to make it worth it?

Ah, the old "It Could Be Worse" program!

You've studied the art of Demotivational Management well!

It's true. Put us in the exact same situation but two years into a Hillary term, with 2 new Lib justices and a Democrat house. And try to honestly say we'd be better off.

You're right, because the gun the bumpstock attaches to would probably already be banned with Hillary in office, and they'd have the supreme court majority to pull it off. Derp.

You can and should separate the two. No politician does everything right. That's reality. We have a two party system. Another reality. If Trump is the incumbent in 2020, then it will be Trump vs the Liberal dream candidate. Who will do much, much worse than banning a plastic accessory that 95% of Arfcom thought was useless bullshit until a year ago.

A vote for him is support of his actions.
You may wish he hadn’t done something but you damn sure plan on supporting him doing it.

Voting for the lesser of two evils has brought us to this, all while supplying a prima facie endorsement of this charade of a system.

Not legal to add them; the Hughes Amendment is very clear, and there is plenty of case law precedent on the subject (see Nolo's Harris V Lynch/Holder case for the most recent example)

All they can do is make them contraband, ie "we're taking them because we said so"
