This.

In the senate, the GOP will be able to call actual witnesses.  What they have to say will be uncomfortable, at best, for the dims. They also won't be stifled by Schiff if they attempt to ask the wrong question of a witness.

there was never going to be an impeachment....ever..

you have to hand it over to senate Republicans for the trial, that was never going to be a conviction.   The dipshits were hoping to make such a strong case that the Republicans would look bad by not convicting...but they drank to much of the special kool-aid and managed to gaslight themselves before having everyone else convinced.

they won't even send articles of impeachment to the senate. The best they can do is censure and essentially hold the "inquiry" open forever.

they look like feckless idiots either way but the censure route doesn't give senate republicans a mandate to investigate further.

that's the political reality, its inevitable and inescapable..they have crossed the event horizon and no matter how they struggle they can't prevent it.

It was a thin and flimsy political limb to start with. They walked out as far as they could and now it's breaking.

Against all odds they were hoping 'something' would stick and they could hang an impeachment on President Trump he'd have to carry into the 2020 reelection. They knew from the outset the chances for getting the Senate to convict would be impossible.

As soon as President Trump was sworn in they began planning to 'resist' the changes he was going to bring. They could not accept an 'outsider' disrupting their well oiled graft & corruption machine.

Traitors is maybe too strong.

Sedition describes their efforts exactly.

The Democrats in D.C. have done terrible harm to our republic.

What compounds the harm is that none of them will be brought to justice or face the appropriate punishments for their crimes.

This impeachment farce in the Intelligence Committee is only a probe.  If they had found anything substantial their information would have been sent over to the Judiciary Committee.  Since they didn't, they'll hold a censure vote, which will be mostly party line.

If Democrats take a majority in the Senate in the next election, it will come back then.  Elsewise, we're on to the next manufactured crisis.

False sexual harassment charges failed.
Subverting the Electoral College failed.
Calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked failed.
Party line vote to stop the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 failed.
Resistance at all levels of government failed.
Riots in the streets failed.
Opposing the Kavanaugh nomination failed.
Now, impeachment is failing.
On to a censure vote, followed by...???

Oh yeah. Instead of admitting their mistake and tossing the leaker under the bus, they had to double-down on their mistake and bring us to where we are now.

Their hatred or fear of President Trump has been their undoing.

They've forsaken a legislative agenda, sacrificed political capitol and abandoned our nation to pursue an unfounded, irrational campaign to unseat President Trump.

Instead of accepting their loss and moving on to build some kind of stable political footings they chose to adopt a 'far left' 'radical' 'socialist' 'communist' confrontational, divisive and authoritarian political face.

That face has done irreparable harm to their political party, irreparable harm to our nation.

Yet they persist with fools like Nadler and Schiff.

Without question, Pelosi lost control and acquiesced to false polling data, allowing a radical wing to foment discord and disrupt political progress.

The Democrats are too narcissistic to be ashamed of what they've done.

And who among them was on the 'ramparts' demanding impeachment? None other that BSC Maxine Waters ...now, the intellectual leader and firebrand of the Democratic party in America.

Jeez, what a mess.

The most ridiculous part of that is the reference to "evidence" yet they do not specify what that evidence actually is.  Modern journalism is apparently about innuendo, hearsay and implications, not facts.

Impeachment requires "High crimes and misdemeanors" which is a famously vague standard.  This entire charade hinges on that vagueness because they can truthfully state that it's up to congress to decide what is a "high crime and misdemeanor".  Now it's backfiring, people are sick of the BS and they are desperate to find a way to continue impugning Trump without pissing off that half of the country that isn't a raving leftist.

The demos are in deep doo doo on this one.

The true believers (ie the lunatics that believe Trump is the anti-christ) will never forgive them for not proceeding and following through with a full house vote.

The number of those loonies in the demo party has grown so much and have gained such a stronghold on the party that even obama cautioned against moving so far to the left and they immediately jumped his shit.

If you think after all of this that a demo candidate can move to the center after the nomination like Bill and Hillary clinton and obama did, you aren't paying attention.

hillary was vilified for doing it and lost tons of what had previously been rock solid support. ( like what's her name from Thelma and Louise) No one else will be able to pull it off if she couldn't.

Congress can censure its members because, constitutionally, it has the authority to set its own internal rules and procedures.  The key word be "internal".

The whole point of impeachment is an election strategy to boost voter turnout among the hard left portion of their base by pandering to the hashtag resistance. But with recent polls showing a very negative view of the whole ordeal among pretty much everyone outside the far left, they're now backing off.

Pandering to the far left is essential to win democratic primaries. But after those primaries are over, you still have a general election to win, which requires appealing to centrists, independents, and center-right voters.

It's an odd conundrum the democrats are in. Their base is so far and away to the fringes of leftwing thinking that appealing to the democratic base and appealing to centrists and independents are mutually exclusive endeavors. Even the ideology of what passes for the "far right" isn't all that far right and isn't particularly crazy, so for a republican to appeal to the right does not necessarily require alienating centrists or vice versa. But for a democrat to even meekly appeal to centrists does alienate the left, and the left demands appeasements that do alienate centrists.

They're in a dilemma that we don't have. And it's a dilemma that we could manipulate. If they were asked during a debate about their position on 7-year-olds getting transgender transitions, it would screw them over because it forces them to either alienate centrists or the left. Any non-psycho who hears them suggest that you're a bigot for not taking your seven year old to have their hormones chemically altered with puberty blockers and their genitals surgically altered if they say they're a boy/girl will immediately not like them. And if they take the non-psycho answer and say that of course you shouldn't transition your seven year old, the left will regard them as a turncoat and disown them.

That about sums it up at this point.   The fringe dems wanted this, not pelosi.   They were already pushing hard for it even before this ukraine thing came out.  pelosi knew there could be blowback but had to cave to their demands when it got too hot.   Now it's hurting more than it's helping because voters figured out it's all overblown political BS and the dems have wasted the last 4 years on this kind of shit rather than actually running the country.

I can't help but wonder if pelosi and the old guard dems will use the blowback to try to get rid of the radicals in their own party.
