View Quote The Helikon-Tex Mini-Rig will be my next Chest Rig after recently buying a Helikon-Tex Guardian Chest Rig which was very impressive. Great company to deal with and great customer service; I had a stitching QC issue with my original order and they quickly remidied the issue and got me a new one out which is amazing. Their products offer some well thought out solutions to gear storage problems and they have an amazing color selection. I sampled Stealth Gray to save money and get a taste as it was only $119 in this color and Black while being offered through their US firm. The other camo color options are imported from Poland ATM. https://www.helikon-tex.us/guardian-chest-rig.html Attached File In the pic above below the HT Guardian is the T-REX Arms Ready Rig. https://www.trex-arms.com/store/T-REX-ARMS-Chest-Rig/ For a minimalist set up its perfect. I will be ordering their Quad Flap Chest Rig too in the future based off this experience. https://www.trex-arms.com/store/t-rex-quad-flap-chest-rig/ Last is Haley Strategic, I have been eyeing them for a while and wasn't quite convinced they may be worth the coin. I bought a few of the Amazon D3CRM, D3CRH 5.56 and D3CR clones by Oarea and they aren't bad but they aren't quite FMC either. Good for home defense IMO but if you leave the home and need to hit the ground bounding, or in and out of cars and tight spaces, things are going to go very badly so a few of the real Haley D3CRM's and a D3CRH will be added soon if the Helikon-Tex Mini-Rig isn't Mo Betta! For me the Helikon-Tex, T-Rex or Haley Rigs will be the way I go and AXL makes an awesome plate carrier adapter for them. Oh and if your on a serious budget check out the ACETAC SOP on Amazon. |

I'm not a hi speed guy, but I would consider:
1. a modular system that you can buckle to a plate carrier if/when you decide to buy one. 2. A minimilast modular plate carrier and just run it without plates for now. I have a Slickster and it is pretty nice with or without plates. The Crye Maritime also got good reviews and is very reasonably priced considering it's from a company that makes $450 pants. |

I’ll throw Parashooter Gear, Unobtainium Gear and T3 Gear into the mix.

I use a SOE Micro Shotgun Chest Rig. It can carry mags and two to four shotgun cards or however you want to configure it. Mine is in black. I used to use it for work.

View Quote That's the route I took before I got plates although all of them feels "not right" until plates are in. I got a GGG Minimalist when I did that. GGG usually has 50% sitewide for BF. PA has it in coyote brown for $58 for Halloween. https://www.primaryarms.com/grey-ghost-gear-minimalist-plate-carrier-coyote-brown |

The new GBRS Modular Chest Rig looks highly customizable and interesting.

Spiritus and Unobtanium rigs are awesome but very lightweight. Their H harness is very comfortable.

Get a plate carrier even if you don’t have plates they make great chest rigs.
Then in the future. Get plates. |

I know this is plate, but it looks like the DAEODON PLATE CARRIER - Large has been updated, mine doesn't look like that one (missing some of the loops in the front for instance). This with the triple ar mag + triple pistol mag chest piece works nicely. More mags on my shooter belt if I need them (also from Esstac). Really happy with every interaction I've had with Esstac, and all USA made.

I have the 2" and really like it. Got it. This is a great set-up! |

I don't prefer chest rigs but they're ok. The one on the left is a hsgi with surplus pouches. The right a soe micro rig.
I like them to throw over a slick plate carrier or augment my belt rig. Attached File |

While not exactly a chest rig, for durable but inexpensive gear, you can always get a US FLC vest and some surplus pouches. For well under $200 you could have one in a vehicle and another at home ready to go.

Jesus, they weren't kidding when they said modular. It's fuckin' legos with molle, a skeleton system that uses the pouches themselves to connect everything together. It's cheaper than I thought at $150... But that includes zero pouches, you still need those to put it together. So probably close to a $300 chest rig, all said and done. |

I went Esstac for battle belt
Nobody said Ex Umbris for chest rig, I went that route. It’s basic until you start adding pouches. Customer service is top notch |

I already have a full size rig setup. But was thinking of grabbing a trex arms ready rigs.

The Tactical Tailor split front MAV is still a really good platform for a chest rig.

If you’re just starting out, I would say keep it cheap and see what you like. Get a TAPS or FLC. Hell you could probably get one of each for less than $100. It’ll give you something functional and allow you to think about what you would really like when you want to spend a bit more money.

I've been playing with my set-up since yesterday thinking about some modifications and a paint job since it's unfortunately ACU. I dyed it a year ago and it barely turned a shade darker so I might hit it with some krylon |
