I did cat eye/winged eyeliner almost all my life. I didn't think it was excessive. Except for that one time I tried this new thing that stamped the wing on. It was.....too much and it went in the trash.
What I only found out over the last couple of years though (thanks to youtube makeup tutorials) is you should avoid it if you have hooded eyes. After I found that out I remembered posting a pic a long time ago and Shane asked why I was sad. NOW I realize it was the eyeliner. It didn't do it every time but if I didn't keep the line thin enough it would change the shape of my eyes so that I looked sad or concerned. I do it different now with only eyeshadow and just a hint of a wing. But I'm getting older and eyes more hooded so I still look sad sometimes.
