On Brazilian Justice de Moreas's order shutting down X: The text of his 51-page decision is far more concerning and sweeping than the headlines suggest. de Moreas’s own words make clear that he is attempting to strike a broader blow against free speech and in favor of authoritarian controls. His opinion does not even try to hide it. He comes right out and points to Brexit and the 2016 election of President Trump as examples, in his telling, of the types of extreme “populist” outcomes that he is attempting to avoid by imposing a new censorship regime in Brazil ahead the country’s elections later this year. But this type of censorship of a political and ideological nature is expressly prohibited by Brazil’s own Constitution. Nonetheless, de Morea argues that free speech on X cannot be allowed to continue because the diversity of political opinions expressed on the site might influence the people of Brazil ahead of their 2024 elections. See op. at 31-32. In other words, de Morea is arguing that free speech is a threat to democracy—a position that is as Orwellian as it is dangerous. The opposite is true. Free speech is democracy’s check on excessive government control. Censorship is the authoritarian’s dream. To dress up his decision, de Morea runs the warmed over playbook of labeling political speech that runs contrary to his own orthodoxy as “misinformation” and “disinformation.” But authoritarians like de Morea are not worried that people will be misled by the political messages they choose to read. He is worried that those messages will be effective. At bottom, this decision is part of a live, ongoing, and global debate between free speech and censorship, between freedom and control. It is imperative that free speech and freedom prevail. Or as the late NY Times editor John Oakes once said, “Diversity of opinion is the lifeblood of democracy. The minute we begin to insist that everyone think the same way we think, our democratic way of life is in danger.” Those are the stakes.

Today, we begin shining a light on the abuses of Brazilian law committed by Alexandre de Moraes. We have been forced to share these orders because there is no transparency from the court, and the people who are being censored have no recourse to appeal. Our own appeals have been ignored. And now the people of Brazil are denied access to X. Secret justice is no justice at all. Today, we say that must change.

View Quote Today, we launch the daily data dump on the crimes – under *Brazilian* law – that fake “judge” @alexandre has committed! He can block this platform in Brazil, but he can’t stop the whole world from knowing his illegal, shameful & hypocritical deeds. Karma’s a b*tch bro. Elon and Trump tweets are now indistinguishable |

There is growing evidence that fake judge @Alexandre engaged in serious, repeated & deliberate election interference in Brazil’s last presidential election. Under Brazilian law, that would mean up to 20 years in prison. And, I’m sorry to say that it appears that some former Twitter employees were complicit in helping him do so. Anyone with examples or evidence to this effect, please reply to this post. |

1 Judge breaks the law and no one is doing anything to stop him other than posting his misdeeds?
What's really going on in Brazil and why isn't anyone demanding some "Executive Outcomes" |

What's really going on in Brazil and why isn't anyone demanding some "Executive Outcomes" View Quote Moraes is a great example of what happens when there is effectively no separation of powers and no other body will use another means to remove him. He basically deposed Bolsonaro and singlehandedly got an actual communist convicted criminal installed in their last "election." Brazil is in a different place than we are. I'm looking forward to reading the minutiae of this. |

The minute we begin to insist that everyone think the same way we think, our democratic way of life is in danger.” Those are the stakes.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GWTrq6QW0AAsWDm?format=jpg&name=smallhttps://pbs.twimg.com/media/GWTrq6KWoAEikpk?format=jpg&name=small What's happening in Brazil, and has been happening here in the US (and several other countries - e.g. France arresting Telegram's CEO) are just tests to gage how much the groups and organizations pushing authoritarian regimes worldwide can move their goalposts and measure how much the populations will passively accept it. Also note that in Brazil, like here, they blatantly, brazenly ignore local laws and constitutions, which they selectively and even fraudulently apply to reach their goals. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/144599/ComingSoon_jpg-3311632.JPG They want it here. The UK got a leftie .gov and within a few weeks they're racing FULL speed down the "thought-crime" expressway. (Reminder that their "conservatives" were the "same thing, only slower" variety). I'm sure he wasn't asked about it during the campaign. I'm sure he got to run on "Muh free shit, and I love special prefix leftie victim groups more than anyone else", media sitting there and nodding. Now that he gets in: Enjoy your gas stove bans, free speech bans, and endless hordes of migrants. Protest migrant crime or ask out loud, "hey whoa why are they being released so soon for a violent crime? We put citizens away for a long time for crimes like that?" and YOU get in trouble for asking. Your streets deteriorate in the mean time. That's what happens when you have an authoritarian left running the west, with an authoritarian left press covering it. It's bad enough that [checks notes] Nate Silver, yes, THAT Nate Silver, is waking up. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/144599/NateSilverBased_jpg-3311633.JPG IMHO if we lose, we get it here. What amazes me is they don’t even hide it. “Free speech is criminal and dangerous”. Not even hiding intentions. It’s like history repeating itself. We faught fucking wars over this shit. Fuckin yup. "First thing they try to do is get rid of your guns. After that they come for free speech" And for decades, gun-banning liberals were hysterically shrieking that they simply wanted _____NEW____ gun-ban and then that's it. And that nothing else was coming after that because, of course not. And then Australia had COVID camps. The UK is jailing people over tweets while releasing illegal immigrants that committed violent crimes to citizens - including children. Same lifetime. They're playing for keeps. They aren't hiding it. Authoritarian lefties want to ban your Superduty- while they fly private They want to ban your gas stove, they keep theirs. Your Glock19 is a problem, their security team's fleet of giggle-switch MP5SDs? No biggie. It’s almost like the war of independence, the history of man that will always move to tyranny. It repeats. This is nature of man That’s why our founders put checks on man. They were brilliant, but not infallible If only there was a book of history…let’s call it a Bible. Hmm. I recall in some old book that ah, people who made buttsex a national issue/priority, it didn't go well for them right? |

That says it all right there. Pure tyranny. This is a candidate for president. Social media needed no controls when all of it was controlled by leftists marching in lockstep with both the DNC party lines and the IC. But the moment someone who values some level of free speech starts running one of the popular social media outlets, the sky is falling, free speech is dangerous, and thoughtcrime laws are needed. |

I can't believe my lying eyes. The CA law is so fucking blatantly unConstitutional that even the 9th circuit can't run interference. |
