Ok, not much action, but kinda personal from years separated.
Willie Steinmann in a “trench” after being shot down by my uncle’s B24 on 8-1-43, over Ploesti. He was thrown free of his crash, the big smoke column is my uncle’s plane, nobody survived.  Attached FileWillie Steinmann in his official photo He took out John Palm’s B24 before meeting up with my uncle’s plane.  Attached FileMy uncle Louis and the crew of “ Black Jack”, they had landing gear troubles and couldn’t fly it on the mission. Their replacement was the “Marquette”.  Attached FileUncle Lous @ 1942, he had joined the RCAF before the U.S. was in the war and earned the Sgt. Pitot rating, that’s why he’s wearing them on his right breast. This thread is amazing for what has been shared and what people have in their collections.
Some of the gun configs on the photos I posted above have 20mm cannons along with the .50cal, they are located in the spots where the 75mm cannon was or was later located. |

Seeing some of the tail flashes form the German planes reminded me of this picture I took at the Imperial War Museum in London last year. I beleive it is from a BF-110.

Aviation artist Ron Cole has some parts from a crashed Bf-110 coming out of Russia.
 I assume he's going to do with the parts what he usually does and creates an art print with a piece of the plane on the art print. @13starsinax |

Hess was the only Nazi I even remotely felt sorry for. He was obviously not completely right in the head. He was likely to have been drugged and interrogated by the Brits. He was reportedly to be almost out of his mind and barely functional at trial and the rest of his life in prison.
He was the only one who could have claimed insanity. However, I have no doubts he was a mean bastard when he was sane. |

In Speer's autobiography, on Speer's last day in prison before being released they were looking at a truck delivering coal, and Hess said to Speer: "Starting tomorrow, it's all for me." or something to that effect. |
