A guy that ran in the last election in my County had been busted before for impersonating a cop. He lost in the primary but got more votes than he should.

A few years ago, the assistant chief of a Podunk got involved in a pursuit while in his personal vehicle. The assistant chief's and suspect vehicles collided several times, resulting in lots of damage to the chief's vehicle. He later asked the council to pay for the damage, which they refused, and rightfully so.

My Dad was a constable in rural Tennessee, I am pretty sure he was fired for taking it too seriously. He was Barney Fife as hell.
I still have the Colt Police Positive that he carried. I used to disarm him when he came to visit. I never met another person that knew so little about handguns that insisted on carrying one....complete with "Concealed Carry Permit" badge in a patent leather holder. |

My county but not my constable
 We've had some interesting ones. Had one that weighed about 400 and wore overalls. Carried a snub nose 38 in his bib pocket state trooper had a laugh over that one night at a wreck. Good friend of mine was a constable in my area. He was 80+ when elected his only experience was a prison guard in the 70s. He was deaf and scared of his own shadow. Another friend lives in a little town right across the county line. He is a constable the fire chief and a paramedic so he has many hats. He is a decent guy and tries to do something. |

I know of one who was driving around in his F150 pulling over speeders without radar. He was using his speedometer. If you were over posted as he came up behind you, he’d pull you over and write a ticket.
The sheriffs department put a stop to it real quick. |

Smaller town in the far-out Chicago burbs. Don't recall if it was the local PD or Sheriff's but the guys were quite helpful. The lead guy showed me his clipboard full of repo's, evictions, restraining orders, etc. and said, "this is today's work, same almost every day". Sounded like gravy work for his squad compared to regular police work. |
