Two days ago around 3am local time we had an RC-135 Rivet Joint travel all the way up and over Scandinavia, head East, and shut its transponder off right when it approached Russian airspace near Murmansk. Very cool.

Attached File But I agree very, very strongly with our PM that the best thing we can do for Ukraine is to supply weapons and end the war so that Ukraine can rebuild and people can go home. If aircraft are too sensitive then send modern SAMs so they can “close the sky” themselves. Give Poland,Czechia,Slovakia…some MLRS and M198s or FH70s so they can send Warsaw Pact era artillery if NATO nations don’t want to send them directly or deal with training/logistics of new things. |

If aircraft are too sensitive then send modern SAMs so they can “close the sky” themselves. I know several NATO nations have MLRS in storage,Ukrainians can suss out how to use them quickly enough. The US has M198s and there are FH70s etc in war reserve stock in Europe that can go. The math of how artillery works is the same, just need a bit of training on the details. It should be obvious that Ukraine just needs the tools, they have plenty of will to fight. View Quote Yeah, I love my whole extended family but if their houses burnt down, I wouldn't move them into my house to live forever. I'd help them rebuild and send them home. Then again, it's hard to send them home if their land is stolen. Ukraine needs to win. Tens of millions of refugees is bad for any modern country, no matter where they come from. |

Selling oil for $35/barrel is an act of desperation. My guess is some oligarchs are pocketing that money and Russian .gov will see very little benefit from that sale. View Quote Putting aside their questionable ability to produce enough oil Russia also has the non-trivial problem of how will they get that oil to India? There is no pipeline from Russia to India and it's unlikely that they would build one through China and the Himalayas. Since Russia can't use the Black Sea the closest route from another Russian port would be something like Vladivostok to Chennai which is about 4,743 nautical miles. That route also goes past a couple of extremely narrow straights with not so friendly countries on either side. If somehow they are allowed through the Bosporus with commercial vessels they're still not much better off since the Sevastopol-Mumbai route is about 4,712 nautical miles. Basically the same distance. It seems to me this agreement is more symbolic than anything else. |

Once Russia's oil storage is full, they'll have to stop pumping and shut down production. That would be a long-term, heavy blow, as they now lack the tools and talent to easily restart production. |
