Good to know. I envisioned some Russian Tony Stark in a garage somewhere building rockets.

Amen to that. Wonder if they’ll preserve it, kinda like that bombed out church in Berlin.

I would absolutely visit there when this is all over. Imagine standing there, seeing the same rusted steel scarred by orcs those Jedi knights valiantly fought against.

And the radio is a freaking Beofang UV-5R.  A fooking $25 "ham" radio.  Wow, high tech for sure.

That might be one more in a series of Russian mis-steps: Putin forces Lukashenko to support the war, the Belarussian people rise up a la Maidan and overthrow Lukashenko, Belarus turns to Europe away from Putin, and Russia loses Belarus as a source of men, materiel, and bases.

When you figure that The Ukraine was losing ∓100 dead per day At The Start, as a whole, that isn't that bad.
I remember reading that during the World Wars, about 1,000 soldiers died Per Day, excluding Major Attacks and offenses.

What were the causality rates Per Day during the Iran/Iraq war

I think it's because they are afraid of getting them shot down.
But during specific conditions they might consider the risk worth it in order to attack specific Ukranian targets. But I  really think they have just lost so many they are mostly afraid to fly them, so they are hanging back.

The planes are coming out of storage.  Are Russian pilots doing a time share with planes.

I really have no idea what the russians have.
If they are bringing planes out of storage knowing they don't have anybody to fly the planes, fine. The planes can sit idle outside instead of sitting idle inside.

I would assume they would be calling up retired pilots to fly them, but it is russia.

They could also be looking at this as a short term solution to replace worn out planes or a mid to long term solution for new pilots that will be graduating flight school.

Just spit ballin because as I said, it is russia.

I guess they have enough pilots, many ejected and got rescued, some planes were destroyed on the ground, some planes made it back to base and were written off as unrepairable.

Planes are the easy part. Having someone to fly them is a completely different thing.
Given the Russian ability to have appropriately trained and equipped infantry and technicians at the right time and right place, I have no doubt that Russia is pulling planes out of mothballs with next to zero change of having current and capable fighter pilots.

I'm honestly surprised it took this long to get sick of the Ayatollahs.
Iran used to be a forward thinking, well educated place.

Fricking fundies beat their chest and went at the Sunni  Shia thing as soon as they had their fangs sunk in.
After they finished with the Baathists, they went at their own worse than the fucking Taliban.

Yep.

Plus the current front line Russian pilots who were the best Russia had the start of the conflict have proven to be a pretty sad lot.

It's one thing to fly a modernish fighter and blast some third worlders.  It's another to face off against a peer.  And at this point, I think after the infusions of NATO weaponry and training, Ukraine is quickly becoming (if not already) Russia's peer.
