Who said it was supposed to be. Jumping into the thread 4700 pages in you may are bringing your bumper sticker narrative but there has been no pretense like that in here.

Read more and pay attention. It is wonderful to see so many drop ins suddenly appear here, because this happens every time. Russia gets kicked in the balls.

That's already toast. Before the invasion Russia was 18% of the world's NG output, was about half of Europe's natural gas consumption, and about 15% of Russia's economy. Russia for the most part cannot liquify and ship their natural gas, so it has to be sent via pipelines in vapor form. The Nordstream to Europe pipeline was cut and they have little to no pipelines going to India and China. So when the Nordstream was bombed it really was a big deal. It would take 5-6 years to build pipelines going to friendly countries and they haven't started. There is a large liquified natural gas plant in the arctic (Yamal) though, built by foreigners and they use icebreakers to ship it. But Europe had a very warm winter last year and didn't need it.

All the hand-wringing over not being too mean to Russia is pointless. You've made your point, and you do not seem to have any takers. Perhaps it is time to move on to not shitting up the thread?

It's not shitting up on a thread to point out that we can destroy Russia and won't. It perhaps is shitting on some know-it-all posters who didn't know that, but I assumed all along you guys were well read on the subject and knew just how much oil, food, fertilizer and other vital resources Russia (a country spanning 14 time zones) pumps into the world and what an impact it would have on the world economy (and our own) if they were unable to govern themselves. Or the risk of loose nukes.

But to your point, when I came to this thread I thought it would be cool to dispel some Russia propaganda here, thought it was weird someone would be so paranoid as to accuse me of being a Russian or Russian sympathizer when clearly I am not and just don't omit important information. Now I know why. I didn't realize there were some really extreme idealogues here that really think "destroy Russia and damn the consequences." Well, go ahead and protest in Washington and see how that goes. No administration is going to do that, even a hawkish one like Biden. Popular support for aid is dropping, everyone wants peace, and whether we stop crippling Russia this year or next year we'll see. I'm guessing next year, but it's worth a try this fall when there's a window.

You've made your points repeatedly. The same things have been discussed multiple times over the course of the conflict in this thread. You'll find most of us know the stats you're quoting already too. All we have now is a multipage derail, which doesn't help those of us trying to keep up with events.

The events are overall it's a stalemate at the moment. A couple km advance near Robotyne here and a couple km near Staromaiorske there. Maybe they'll take Kliskivka sometime in the next few weeks which is cool but if they're going to surround Bakhmut then Berkhivka is more important. I've been watching it closely too, and until there's a breakthrough it's like watching paint dry. Nothing to talk about. We're all waiting for the breakthrough. But if that excites you, it's cool.

They did breach a line for the first time this week in Robotyne. I hope they've come up with a long range solution to the Ka-52s that have been harrassing them from a distance.

They are making slow, steady progress. The bad part is that there have been reports of fairly high Ukrainian losses. Given the tools they have to work with, I think they are doing the best they can.  The excess casualties are partially Biden's fault for slow walking the things Ukraine needs to do this work more safely.

The legendary "Azov" brigade returned to the front: the fighters stormed 4 enemy positions at once.

13 enemy servicemen were killed by artillery forces and during shooting battles, 12 were wounded. Also, the fighters of the brigade captured two soldiers of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the offensive operation, it was possible to improve the tactical position to a depth of 400 m and 500 m along the front.

Your data, historical perspective, and analysis are appreciated, at least by some here. Some of your interpretations are interesting though, no doubt based on some "famous" intellectuals' opinions. Biden is a hawk? You came here to dispel Russian propaganda?

We can still have a different opinion about the various aspects of this war, extreme ideologues and all. If you really want to hit your head on a brick wall, try changing opinions in the anti-Ukraine threads in GD.

Um, no.

Serious question: is there ANYTHING Russia could do that would make you think they needed to be crushed completely and totally.

Be specific.

Oh, with a stable currency like ours we'd like to see it devalued some to boost exports. China devalues theirs on purpose by buying up large reserves of dollars. But when your government collapses and your money's worth zero, what can you buy and who can you pay and why bother selling anything in your currency?

It's not me. It's Jake Sullivan, it's Condoleeza Rice, it's James Baker, it's Thomas Graham, it's Kissinger and Kotkin and George Kennan. All our best minds on it. The only reason you would want to completely and totally crush them is if they threatened to do that to us. There was a time when they did, but not anymore. It's been 40 years since they were anything but an ant under our boot. They can be contained.

It is completely unappreciated how much work SBU is doing. It is a constant stream that I usually skim through as fast as possible, like 15-20 cases posted a day. I bet I could post as much as I currently do just on SBU stuff.

This is in the last week, skipping all the smaller traitors, spies, and criminal groups.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported the suspicion of a Kyiv businessman who in 2022 transferred more than 50 million rubles to the budget of the Russian Federation

The Security Service has gathered evidence against the owner of a Kyiv trading company, who is involved in financing the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.

We are talking about a business structure that imports and sells climatic equipment from East Asia in Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the owner of this enterprise is the founder of two more trading companies in Moscow.

On the eve of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he left for one of the European countries, from where he coordinates his business, including on the territory of the aggressor country.

It was on the instructions of the businessman that the Russian companies under his control continued their commercial activities after February 24, 2022 and transferred millions of dollars to the budget of the Russian Federation in the form of taxes.

Thus, during the past year alone, he financed the state treasury of the aggressor country by more than 50 million Russian rubles.

According to the investigation, the actual "operational" management of enterprises, in particular in Russia, was carried out from Kyiv by the financial director of the capital company of the person involved.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the owner of the enterprises and his subordinates about the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance to the aggressor state committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy).

Since the enemy accomplice is outside Ukraine, a set of measures is being taken to bring him to justice.

As for the accused's accomplice, the issue of selecting her as a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.

Perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

SBU and BEB exposed new crimes of Russian oligarch Shelkov in Ukraine, additional suspicions were announced to him

The Security Service, together with the Security Service, exposed new crimes of the sanctioned oligarch from the Russian Federation Mykhailo Shelkov, who is involved in the schemes of covert supply of Ukrainian titanium raw materials to the aggressor country.

It was established that he circumvented the personal sanctions imposed on him by the National Security Council and used a controlled company in one of the European countries for this purpose.

"On paper", this foreign enterprise acted as a customer of titanium raw materials from "Demurinsky Mining and Processing Plant" LLC from the Dnipropetrovsk region. However, in reality, Ukrainian products were sent to Russia by rail.

Such a scheme operated before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and brought the organizers of the arrangement millions of extra profits in the form of non-payment of taxes and concealment of real income.

Thus, during the years 2020-2021, those involved caused losses to the state budget of about 100 million hryvnias.

Based on the evidence base of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, Shelkov was notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪ 212 (evasion of payment of taxes, fees (mandatory payments));
▪ 209 (legalization (laundering) of criminally obtained property).

It will be recalled that in June of this year, the investigators of the Security Service informed him of the suspicion of another episode of illegal activity. Then the suspicion was declared under part 3 of Art. 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (financing of actions committed for the purpose of violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of territory or state border of Ukraine).

Then the Ukrainian special service established that Shelkov was covertly supplying Ukrainian titanium raw materials to the Russian Federation for the needs of the Russian military-industrial complex.

An investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Since the person involved is in the territory of the aggressor country, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice for crimes against our state.

The SBU reported the suspicion of Russian oligarch Mykhailo Fridman, who is financing Russian aggression in Ukraine

The Security Service documented the criminal activities of Russian oligarch Mykhailo Fridman, who is involved in financing the war against Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he "poured" about 2 billion rubles into several military factories of the aggressor country.

Among them is the Tula Ammunition Plant, which produces ammunition, as well as the Yalamov Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant, which produces high-tech equipment for Russian military aircraft and helicopters.

To finance the Kremlin's aggressive "projects", the oligarch uses the assets of the Russian financial and investment consortium "Alfa Group" controlled by him.

He also used his own business resources for the mass distribution of dry rations, clothes and other products under the trade mark "Army of Russia", which are supplied to the occupiers on the front lines.

Along with this, Friedman organized the collection of material and technical assistance for the needs of the occupation groups of the Russian Federation fighting in Ukraine.

In addition, the defendant's insurance companies took over the insurance of military equipment, as well as the life and health of the Russian invaders at the front.

Also, the Russian oligarch ensured the cooperation of his own telecommunications company with the FSB, which allowed him to conduct mobile communications under the control of the Russian special services in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified Friedman of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (financing of actions committed for the purpose of violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, changes in the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine, committed by a group of persons under a prior conspiracy).

The suspect is currently hiding from justice abroad. Comprehensive measures are underway to bring him to justice. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The thing is Russia's biggest imports are pharmaceuticals, luxury goods, vehicles and machinery, and electronics.

Price hikes on those fall most heavily on the Moscow/ St. Petersburg crowd that Russia's leadership has been trying to insulate from war impacts.

As a result of AFU artillery strikes, destroyed or damaged were at least one 2A65 Msta-B and one 2A36 Giatsint-B 152mm towed howitzer, one 2S19 Msta-S 152mm SPG, and one BM-21 Grad 122mm MRL.

The most notable was a strike on a BM-21 MRL, as it was conducted with an M30A1 GMLRS rocket (filled with over 180,000 tungsten elements for area effects) and resulted in spectacular ammunition detonation.

If there is ONE person on this earth to NOT take advice from it would be Henry Kissinger.  He is the cause of many ills in the world.

Russian sources claiming Ukrainians are pounding them.

Again, someone should say that the permanent destruction of 🇷🇺 ammunition depots by AFU 🇺🇦 in the hinterland would not bring anything. RF 🇷🇺 on the #Zaporizhia front are suffering massively from "mussel hunger" aka artillery shell shortage. This is how #Counteroffensive works while conserving your own strength

Once this is over, our time will be better spent helping Ukraine develop their gas and oil fields and let them supply Europe and the baltics with oil and gas. Russia blew their own pipeline attempting to bring Europe to their knees. Like their 3 day war, it didn't quite work out like they planned. "We are lucky they are so fucking stupid".

Interesting, S-300 surface to air missiles used in a desperate attempt to hit front line Ukrainian forces.

Russia really has no answer to HIMARS.

📍 Zaporozhye direction

This large stronghold, a large line of trenches and trenches in the north of Novoprokopivka and south of Robotiny was completely under the control of the Armed Forces

All the hand-wringing over not being too mean to Russia is pointless. You've made your point, and you do not seem to have any takers. Perhaps it is time to move on to not shitting up the thread?
