They are designed so you can airburst on open vehicles or explode after penetration. Solid choice for any enemy armored vehicles.

Ukraine has tanks as well. Many Russian tanks were destroyed in 2014 as well as Ukrainian t64's.

Any half decent light infantry unit is going to carry their javelins. It's a capability unmatched by anything else that is man portable.

My concern if I were leading a formation is how many javs I have on hand and the enemy composition. I'm knocking tanks out of the fight before BMPs, and I'm using the most reliable weapon to do it.

One of the biggest reasons the Javelin is a game changer is it can defeat some of the counter measures that other anti-tank options will not. Those T-90As we've been seeing are not safe from javelins.

What’s your point?  Are you suggesting Tucker isn’t siding with Russia on the topic of Ukraine?

The German foreign minister responded today to Klitschko's thanks for nothing comments about Germany only sending helmets.
Berlin agreed to send 5,000 military helmets to Kyiv, but Ukrainian ambassador to Berlin, Andriy Melnyk, said the support was merely a "symbolic gesture" as Ukraine needs equipment for hundreds of thousands of soldiers

"The behavior of the German government leaves me speechless," the Kyiv mayor told a local news outlet in January according to a Reuters report. "The defense ministry apparently hasn't realized that we are confronted with perfectly equipped Russian forces that can start another invasion of Ukraine at any time."

"What kind of support will Germany send next?" Klitschko questioned. "Pillows?"

The German foreign minister responded to the mayor's condemnation Friday and said, "I'm sorry it was only 5,000."

I am a huge Tucker fan and watch him every night. But I disagree with his opinion on Ukraine/Russia. Russia is clearly the bad-guy aggressor in that mess. We should send lethal aid to Ukraine but no soldiers. And I dont give a fuck if Ukraine locked up some politicians from their opposition party, as Tucker complains about. WE, in the USA need to lock up 90% of the demo-commie party too!

I do agree that we should be more concerned with OUR borders that Ukraine's borders. And we should stop antagonizing Russia and pushing them over into China's camp.

Ukraine should NOT be invited or allowed into NATO (Turkey should be kicked out).

I know nothing about military doctrine, but would the javs be forward deployed on the front lines to meet the first assault, or held back in the rear (I'm talking 10's of miles, not a hundred miles) ready to be deployed to high concentrations of assaulting tanks?

FWIW, that strike had footage of the crater and fragments of a mortar shell posted not too long afterwards. I would consider it a legitimate strike due to location, alerts of mortar shelling at that time etc... I think wargonzo just put his water mark on it after he received the footage.

OSCE SMM in Ukraine is an hour late with their daily report and have issued no other communications about their status. This is not good news. Many European nations have staff in the separatist areas, IIRC only US and the Netherlands already withdrew their observers.

If OSCE withdraws from the separatist areas, chances of getting any reliable impartial information out of there reduces considerably. These people could also be at personal risk considering the daily harrasment directed at them by the so called people's militias of Novorossiya during more normal times. I fear they are not out of bounds to end up involved in the false flag operations.

Nothing would please Russia more than to get some OSCE observers killed that they could blame on Ukrainian shelling and then use an excuse to launch their long range rocket artillery or ballistic missiles against Ukrainian artillery positions.

I'm in bed as it's late where I'm at but I can throw up a couple paragraphs on basic defense doctrine tomorrow.

Short answer is the javelins go where the troops are, so some on the front and some in reserve more than likely.

Russia sees Ukraine as being part of Russia, and it was for about 200+ years.

Ukraine is very important for Russia strategically, the black sea is one of if not the only reliable warm water port the Russian navy has access to.

Russia exists on a plain called the Northern European Plain, the further east from around the netherlands you go the wider that plain gets, by expanding westward Russia narrows the front they'd have to defend.

This is a good video that sums up their general strategy/aims

It's very simple. Putin wants Ukraine.  He is NOT afraid that NATO will attack him - that's all BS. Look back at a couple of pages and read one of my posts from this morning about where Ukraine stands in the world in natural and industrial resources. But it's also a Russians hate Ukrainian issue which is many hundreds of years old.

My point is that reposting that one Russian shill dudes pics up over an over again as if it proves the thing he said it proves is just as much a waste of everyone's time as the who is more Ukrainian dick measuring suck fest that took up many pages.  They are both disassociate reasoning distractions from an otherwise adult level and important thread.  By all means take some off the cuff quote from 3 years ago and draw whatever conclusions you want.  I don't draw the same conclusion based on what I have heard over time and don't actually care either.  What I do care about is this thread being on point and not having to read the same irrelevant crap or see the same pictures not proving the point being made posted over and over again.  It just sucks.  Let's not suck and stay on point.

Gotcha, and thanks that would be interesting to read.

Second paragraph makes sense, and what I was assuming. I can't find exact numbers, but best I can find is maybe about 100 launchers they have (maybe safe to assume another 100 not reported?) and of course a higher number of missiles for the launchers. One to two hundred launchers doesn't seem like very much to cover the approx 1100 miles of potential "frontline" Russia could assault through. That's why I was wondering how they were deployed in the best strategic manner. Seems like some forward deploy in the most likely assault routes to make things a little difficult, with reserves held in cities where a potential assault would converge.
