Kim Pegula health issues finally revealed in lengthy update by daughter Jessica Pegula

The mystery as to the health issues of Buffalo Bills co-owner Kim Pegula were at long last revealed Tuesday morning in a story written by her daughter, Jessica Pegula, at the website The Players Tribune.

Jessica Pegula said her mother suffered cardiac arrest at the family home in Florida last June. She had been sleeping and when she began to go into arrest, her husband, Terry Pegula, awoke and found her unresponsive.

She was actually saved by another of the Pegula children, daughter Kelly, who performed CPR while an ambulance was en route to the home. Paramedics continued life-saving measures on the way to the hospital, and Kim was admitted, and the biggest concern was whether she suffered any brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

“Today, my mom is still in recovery and although it is the same answer every time someone asks me, it is true, she is improving every day,” Jessica Pegula wrote of her mother, who was an orphan from South Korea and adopted by Ralph and Marilyn Kerr who raised her in Fairport. “She is dealing with significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues. She can read, write, and understand pretty well, but she has trouble finding the words to respond.

“It is hard to deal with and it takes a lot of patience to communicate with her, but I thank God every day that we can still communicate with her at all. The doctors continue to be blown away by her recovery, considering where she started, and her determination is the driving force of that.”

Reportedly 5 years, $17MPY.

Edit: And the Broncos gave up the 1st round pick they got for sending Chubb to Miami to the Saints for the rights.

Both Brady and JJ Watt retired this season. That means they will both be in the same HOF draft class.

Brady was already 34 years old and in the league for over a decade when JJ was drafted.

From a Google search: "A dark retreat is one that is done solo, with the complete absence of light. This is considered an advanced practice that comes from the Dzogchen lineage in Tibetan Buddhism. It's thought that one can essentially re-experience the womb and re-birth awareness of the mind to let go of fears through an invitation of spiritual experiences free of distraction. Mediating in the dark helps to stimulate the pineal gland, which enhances clarity and discernment. You can use the teachings of this ancient technique to clear light from your mind and pair mantra with meditation to heal energy during challenging times."

Fits right in with his Indian enema routine and ayahuascsa use.

ESPN  just lost a lawsuit in Phoenix over un-Constitutional limitation of free-speech and property rights due to their Super Bowl "clean zones".

TLDR: Phoenix City-Council passed an ordinance banning any signage not approved by the NFL and the council (limiting advertisements strictly to NFL sponsors). Man sued because he wanted to sell signage space on his own building to a non-NFL sponsor company. Judge ruled in his favor saying the council's decision was "totally antithetical to the principles of limited government".

WHOLE lot more in the article, including a story of how the NFL made a food truck paint their tires with black paint because the tires were a different brand than Bridgestone (official NFL sponsor).

He's almost 40 and at this point in his life he may well be old enough to be in diapers by the time he finds himself. To some finding a good job, wife, having children, lifelong friends and a close family is enough by the time you are that age. To each their own I guess.

The new 5th year option totals for 2020 1st round picks have been made official. This covers Burrow, Tua, Herbert and of course all the non-QBs. I'll cover the positions that are most likely to see options.

Quarterbacks range from $20.7M (no qualifiers) up to $32.4M (2 Pro Bowls)
Receivers range from $13.0M up to $19.7M
Offensive Lineman range from $13.6M up to $18.2M
Defensive End range from $12.1M up to $19.7M
Defensive Tackle range from $10.5M up to $18.9M

Edit: Herbert and Burrow both have 1 Pro Bowl + Playtime Criterion = $29.5M
Tua has no Pro Bowl (he could have gone as an alternate this year but was still in Concussion Protocol) and due to his injuries he JUST missed out on meeting the Playtime Criterion, so he would be at the minimum $20.7M.

Also the rest of his family get along with each other, IIRC.  Rodgers is the only one no one gets along with.

Suggests Rodgers staying with the Packers would be a MAJOR upset.

Edit: SportsBetting odds, which do not include the Packers (bet void if he returns):
Raiders -150
Jets +250
49ers +500

I hope his dark retreat has him going to the Raiders, nothing darker than that.

And Payton turns around the Broncos, and the Chargers somehow Uncharger themselves.

2024 might have strong AFC West for the first time in forever.

Titans hired a female coach. I have no words..................

Yeah, I'm SURE she had lots to do with the Bucs D during their SB run..................

During her tenure with the Bucs, they led the NFL in rushing defense, allowing only 92.3 yards per game. Additionally, the team ranked fifth in sacks (187), third in tackles for loss (348), first in quarterback hits (452) and fifth in takeaways (102). Nose tackle Vita Vea earned his first Pro Bowl selection, while totaling 15 sacks between 2019 and 2022, a total that led all nose tackles. Locust joined fellow Buccaneers assistant Maral Javadifar in becoming the first women on an NFL coaching staff to win a Super Bowl (LV).

Prior to joining Tampa Bay, Locust was the assistant defensive line coach for the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football and served as a coaching intern with the Baltimore Ravens during their 2018 training camp.

Locust held a variety of coaching roles leading up to her entry into the NFL coaching ranks, including time with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (National Arena League), Central Penn Capitals (NAL) and the York Capitals (American Indoor Football). She also served as a coach for the Central Penn Pairanha (semi-professional) and her high school alma mater, Susquehanna Township H.S. She attended Temple University and also played football (2004-08) for the Central Penn Vipers in the Independent Women's Football League.

What are Carr's guarantees? Seems like he'd be an idiot to accept a trade AND accept a deal restructure.

Take whatever guaranteed money you have. Make them cut you and then sign wherever you want. Screws the Raiders out of any minimal draft capital too. They really botched this.

Potential trade partner is going to have to be very crafty with a trade deal/restructure to incentive him.

If I read his contract details correctly on OTC, he has already collected most of what was guaranteed at signing. If he's still under contract on Feb 15th, an additional $32.9M for 2023 and $7.5M for 2024 becomes guaranteed. If he's cut, there's $1.9M per year in prorated bonus money for 2023-2025 that's still on the books, but I'm guessing that was already paid to him.

Between the contract numbers and the no trade clause, it doesn't feel like the Raiders have much leverage here. And if he gets cut, he's probably the #1 or #2 free agent QB on the market this year when a good number of teams need QBs.

Him going somewhere else seems like it would come with a restructure. Thats the benefit a no-trade clause.

ProFootball Network's Tony Pauline reports Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott is expected to take a "large pay cut" to remain with the team.

Cowboys GM Jerry Jones has said the team wants Elliott, who is scheduled to make $16.7 million, back for 2023. Releasing Elliott ($5M cap savings) remains in play but would come with $12 million in dead money. Elliott returning on a restructured deal may be the likeliest outcome, allowing Dallas to keep him on the roster at a reduced salary. The Cowboys also have an interest in bringing back free agent Tony Pollard this offseason.

NFL and DAZN sign deal for the worldwide (excluding China) streaming rights to NFL Game Pass International. The 10 year deal is reportedly worth $1B or $100M per season.

DAZN has distributed NFL Game Pass in Canada since 2017 and has been the league's broadcast partner in Germany and Japan since 2016 as well as Italy since 2018.

Football fans outside the U.S. can watch every league regular season and postseason game on NFL Game Pass International, including the Super Bowl. Available on Smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles. It also includes NFL Network, NFL RedZone and NFL Films programming.

I wonder how much it costs. It says price varies by country. If there is a cheap country, then wouldn't combining an NFL Game Pass International subscription with a VPN set to said country be the cheapest option to watch whatever game you want all season long? No black outs?... Not a bad idea to look into.
