One source stated that this is going to a polar orbit (97.86 degree inclination) so that means a launch to the south if true.

It makes sense since it is a radar Earth observation satellite.

Couple of launches this week… I was considering a trip down to check them out.  Does the seem like a good idea with the forecast etc?

One source has the CSG 2 booster returning to the general launch area to land.  Obviously it is one of the two dedicated landing pads.

Some info on viewing spots here

Great info, thanks!

Any favorite spots to view?  Particularly for the Thursday launch if that’s landing back on the Cape.

Ooh NROL-87?

And yes, this launch cadence is phenomenal. Falcon 9 seems to be almost everything that the Shuttle was spos-da be. Bit smaller in cargo capacity. But it finds ways to make up for that.

Bit smaller in Launch capacity for Falcon 9

Falcon Heavy's mere existence means that it's slightly smaller capacity isn't an issue, because Falcon Heavy has far more throw weight than the shuttle (though to this point, it hasn't used it).

The Shuttle rarely used it's full capacity, anyway.

But you're dead on, it's doing the launch-cadence-makes-things-cheap thing that the Shuttle was supposed to do but never did.

I keep thinking of the IXPE launch. IXPE was originally intended to go up on some tiny air launched rocket to get to its Equatorial orbit. All sorts of work went into making the package as tiny as possible. Then SpaceX comes in and says, "yeah we can put it in that orbit cheaper than Northrop-Grumman's air launched contraption."

Then they proceed to power-slide it into place, launching out of Canaveral with what will probably be the smallest single payload that Falcon 9 will ever launch.

I've been working on my health for the past 3 years and even after all this I know that I'm in no state to go into space. A human body can't just lose 80 pounds without there being consequences. In my case, my weight loss has been accompanied by a massive discharge of toxins built up in my body. I was in a state of partial liver failure until 2 years ago and partial kidney failure until a year ago. As much as it sucks to have missed out. It would have sucked more for him and everyone else if he had died during the flight.

SpaceX targeting 52 Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy launches in 2022

"Shortly before SpaceX was scheduled to launch an Italian Earth observation satellite, a member of NASA’s Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) revealed that the company aims to conduct as many as 52 launches this year."

At least SpaceX is not making the same claim of about 50 launches like they did in 2021...and did not get close.

I think the launch cadence is sustainable. But you've gotta have something to launch.

Hopefully 2022 is better for everyone, not that I have much confidence in that.
